I don’t think ‘net based companies realise how frickin’ irritating it is when they deliver really crap customer service (or in some cases, none at all!) When I’m dealing with a company for my own personal use it’s not such a big deal, but if I need support for a work client and I can’t… read full entry »
It’s funny: one of the reasons I quit my old job was because it was leaving me mentally drained, exhausted and frustrated at the end of the day. I stopped blogging because all I wanted to do was rant about certain people making things very awkward. Now I’ve got my new job I come home… read full entry »
What with the recent increase in dooce-ing and an article in this weeks Micro Mart about “the perils of blogging” it got me thinking about how many of my readers write about work, and how many would be willing to give up their blog or lose their job, should the situation arise. Personally, I’m quite… read full entry »
I think I did well today. Excusing the fact that when my boss asked me to e-mail my colleagues I ended up typing in my personal e-mail address (force of habit) instead of my work address. Then, when I went to upgrade a client’s forum because it was about 10 versions out of date, Transmit… read full entry »
The beauty of working in a place of education is that when the students are on holiday, the staff are on holiday.. that includes the poor over-worked ICT Technicians. 6 weeks of pure, paid, lazy bliss. Oh yes!

Cleaning and maintaining the laser cutter at work is somewhat ominous. Not because it’s worth around £15,000 and should I break it, it’d take me over two years to earn enough cash to pay for it on my meagre part-time wage — nope, more because of the key word: laser. Now, I’m not talking one… read full entry »
I opened my post this morning to find a letter from a local company telling me that they appreciate my application but they’re not going to invite me for interview. I.. don’t remember applying for the job? o.O I think it says it all that while I was looking for work I applied for that… read full entry »
You’re now looking at a no-longer-unemployed bum. Yes, still a bum, but now employed. I start Monday — it’s an ICT Technician position at a local school, supporting the computer equipment in the Science, Music and DT departments. It’s part-time flexible hours, but that’s cool because I can either get another part-time job (theoretically) or… read full entry »
Karl’s back to work after his half term break today so not only does that mean I had to get up at 6:30am this morning, but I’ve got to get off my lazy ass and visit a job agency today. Job agency, back to bed.. job agency, back to bed.. such a tough choice. *snore*… read full entry »
