On the Divisive Issues of Parenting

Naomi, in response to a question on why women trouble themselves with debate on divisive parenting issues: […] keeping women occupied with relatively trivial parenting matters which our ancestors didn’t think twice about means we don’t have time or energy to recognise our true status as women alienated from the real world, frustrated in our… read full entry »

First PHP Game

Remember when I talked about wanting to code some PHP games? (Yes, it was in 2008, what’s your point?) Well I finally managed to fit one in to my busy schedule last week, whilst avoiding studying for my current OU module. Ignoring the fact that it’s talking about points (only relevant for the final ‘install’)… read full entry »

If it’s not one thing, it’s another…

So with Isabel’s nursing strike we’ve all obviously been on tenterhooks lately. Thankfully this seems to be coming to an end… after having a good rant on t’interwebs during a bad morning on Tuesday I threw her up in the sling and started to dance around singing nursery rhymes to get her to sleep. Babywearing and Us

It’s International Babywearing Week and babywearers all over are sharing their stories of slings and carriers. My own babywearing tale starts with a very little Isabel who liked to be held to feed, held to sleep, held awake. Sucker for Punishment

After taking 2 years out because of my health/family situation I’ve finally re-enrolled in my course, with the next module starting October 1st. I’m also returning to work on November 15th (ish). So, what with juggling my websites, Isabel, driving lessons and now this… think my brain is going to explode.

Just to confirm, my picture post guessing at a potential XSS vulnerability from over 3 hours ago proved itself to be exactly that. The vulnerability is caused by URLs not being cleaned/escaped properly. By adding JavaScript to the end of a URL, you can effectively execute whatever you like as long as it’s within 140… read full entry »

Review of The Politics of Breastfeeding

I finally got ’round to finishing the last few pages of ‘The Politics of Breastfeeding: When Breasts are Bad for Business’ by Gabrielle Palmer. I bought it months and months ago, but as it’s not what I would call a dip-in-and-out read, it was very hard to gather the time and concentration needed to read… read full entry »
