During Isabel’s early months I was dropping weight like nobody’s business – breastfeeding, yay! – and was having to eat like crazy so as not to die of starvation (slight exaggeration). Obviously now Isabel is very nearly 20 months old she’s feeding maybe 2-3 times a day (as opposed to every hour, ha) and so… read full entry »
A cheap and cheerful classic that’s really quick to make. Today’s leftovers from last night contain pre-cooked cold pasta, tinned tuna, tinned sweetcorn (Green Giant Niblets are awesome straight from the tin), and some chopped steamed asparagus and courgette that needed using up. Eaten with a yoghurt and an apple, I’m satisfying various daily requirements… read full entry »
It’s Karl’s birthday today (happy birthday, you old fart) so I cooked him some stilton sauce to go with his chips (I know, I spoil him rotten). He’s about half way through when Isabel gesture wildly at the sauce and says “dib dib”. So, Karl picks up a chip, dip dips it into the sauce… read full entry »
A few years ago I blogged asking you guys for lunch ideas and you duly supplied. I’ve decided to return the favour by doing a new blog series: “what’s for lunch Wednesdays”. I realised earlier that I’ve not updated on Isabel in a while. I tend to assume you all know what’s going on in my daily life, which is a ridiculous notion even if I do tweet about it a lot. So, Izz is 6 months old. She’s been sitting unsupported for about 2 weeks, give… read full entry »
Melly was talking earlier this week about Toad in the Hole, and I couldn’t stop thinking about it all week. I love the stuff. Normally, I buy the ready-made zap in oven stuff by Aunt Bessie’s, but I’ve gone off it in recent years (I can only assume they tweaked the recipe or something.) So… read full entry »
Aisling pondered pizza in her latest entry, listing her favourite toppings, crust, etc. Not wanting to ruin the chance to advise you all on my favourite pizza — should we ever meet and you feel tempted to buy me something to eat — I have decided to blog on the subject too. Firstly, it has… read full entry »
I’ve just sent in a complaint email to the Mars company/customer care people, because every Malteser I’ve had so far from a bag I bought today has tasted like plastic. I just wanted some tasty, crispy chocolate, jeez. :(
