I had to google that word. Something like zucchini? I’m all for it.

I hate courgette. And zucchini. I’ll have the cats, though, thanks.

Congratulations! And I’m sure the pride of it being home-grown makes it all the more delicious.

    Congrats!

Banana bread with shredded zucchini is really good – you should try it out if you have any more. That is, of course, If a courgette is the same thing as a zucchini, which it appears to be.

    Also, hurray for bizarre capitalization!

Yum! I’ve always wondered how courgette would taste like in lasagna :o

I actually never tried courgette, what does it taste like?

That’s great news – and the first of very many, if my experience is anything to go by.

Is it a green one or a yellow? I find the yellow ones (from f1 Taxi) have a different, creamier taste.

Thanks Frann. It’s a green version, not sure of the specific type but it was quite good. Definitely tastier than shop-bought ones. I am hoping to get another plant next year though so F1 Taxi is one I’ll look into :)

This must be my American ignorance, but what in the world is a courgette?

I believe you foreigners call it a zucchini :D

Congrats on the first courgette. Any more on the agenda for the year? I’ve got 3 plants growing and it’s from a pack of various colours so I’m hoping for a yellow courgette as I’ve never tried that.

We go through at least one courgette a week, great for risotto, stir fry veg and going in bolognaise or for use in lasagne. Tastes great raw with carrot and cucumber sticks as cruditees (or however you spell the word!).

Just to confuse your overseas readers you should try an Aubergine next year ;)

Sorry the list of uses were in response to those who have never tried a courgette/zucchini before.

No apology necessary – love the suggestions :D I’ve only ever really boiled it or roasted it on its own.

I read that first as “cigarette” and I was like “FINALLY, someone else sees the light.”

I hit enter by mistake, but what I was going to say is that people don’t normally harvest and/or grow their own tobacco, let alone entire whole cigarettes which is what tipped me off. I’m quick.

I happen to know what an aubergine is, just not a courgette. Fancy name for a zucchini ;)

The weather has been perfect for growing squash (that’s what we call it) over here as well! I like to dig out the seeds and stuff them with fried rice, tofu, cheese and other weggies and then give them 20 minutes in the oven.

Now you’re temping my barely-green thumb to try out growing veggies! Dangerous. Let us know how it tastes!

… aaaand scrolling up and reading more thoroughly shows me what you thought of the taste. So forget previous post. :x
