The Disease of the Day is…

I have been off work most of this week with a random mysterious disease. Of course, when I say “random mysterious disease” I actually mean tummy bug, but I quickly discovered that by typing in the symptoms “vomiting” and “diarrhoea” plus “pregnant” into Google, it gives me an estimated remaining lifespan of about 3 days. I should have learnt from the time I had a bite, and an odd circular rash on my hand: Google told me I had Lyme disease

No fear, now that my toilet and I are no longer intimately acquainted, I’m feeling better and ready to hit the todo list again.

  1. Eck! I'm sure that wasn't a pretty sight nor feeling. Good thing you're feeling better now. ;)

  2. lol Lyme Disease? I doubt that's what it is. Some women just get odd shit during pregnancy. You're fine. And if you wanna, go to the doctor.

Oh no, the Lyme disease was last year ;)

I went to the doc to be on the safe side and he confirmed the tummy bug, so all's well!

  4. Google: the hypochondriac's best friend. I hope you're recovering from your stomach bug.

  5. swine flu. maybe. (well, let's hope not :))

  6. I find that unless I have a rough idea of what I have and google that, then googling symptoms means I always have…cancer. It defintitly makes me feel a little paranoid even I know it's not true.
    Glad you are feeling better~

  7. I second Katy… SWINE FLU ZOMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111!!!111
    ;)

  8. I really hope Jenny intended to say "odd shit", because of your actual odd shit. What can I say, the little things amuse me.

    Hope you're feeling A again.

  9. I am glad that you went to the doctor. When you are pregnant I would want to go to the doctor for a tummy bug just to make sure that it wasn't anything to do with the baby.

I am so glad you are feeling better.

  10. Well, last time I had something wrong I googled my symptoms and it told me I had an internal parasite. This triggered an immense wave of paranoia causing me to have my mom rush me to the hospital. The doctor diagnosed me with an embarrassing case of constipation. :l My mom still won't let me forget that.

  11. Oh, dear. I am also glad you are feeling better. Being sick is no fun.

  12. Are you certain it's not swine flu Jem? After all, you have been sick for over a weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek ;)

Glad you are feeling better now, nothing worse than an upset tum.

  13. Oh my, that's quite scary to be picking up random diseases or any sicknesses at all whilst pregnant. : Hope it doesn't happen again!

  14. Ouch. Well I tend to not look up medical things on the internet or I get myself too worried. I hope that you feel better soon and everything goes well.

  15. Honestly, who the hell gets Lyme disease? Least it's all over now, though I suspect you're getting used to the vomiting lark with pregnancy being the ultimate nausea generator.

  16. Oh well, according to Google I had Hepatitis B earlier this week. I realized once again that I shouldn't Google my symptoms. You always die within three days if you do so.

  17. I'm glad you're feeling better Jem!! Google is your best friend when one wants to feel even worse than they already do :)

  18. I hope you're feeling much better now. Can't wait to see what you have in store for the site. :D

  19. You do know half your visitors, if not more, will be googling those three words now to see what comes up, right?

Typically, when I'm worried about something, I look up on a French-language site I trust. They are a bit less likely to tell me I have cancer. ;)

That said, hope you feel better.

  20. P.S. The third result is a UK site that mentions stomach bugs. ;)
