Bloody Knackered

Karl and I have spent all weekend cleaning and moving furniture. Perhaps I’m just being stereotypical/sexist but it’s obvious the flat hadn’t seen a woman’s touch in at least a year. We blasted the shower ‘cubicle’ thing with the steam cleaner and old hair shot out the bottom. Now that was just ‘eww’, and I’ve got my fingers crossed it was anything but pubic hair… thank God for heavy duty bathroom cleaners, a really tough sponge and frickin’ hot steam.

The whole place looks quite a bit bigger without the furniture (it was all taken except the room divider thingymajig) but it’s echoing at the moment. Got to get a small sofa or something, because sitting on hard wooden chairs is not good. At least we have something to sit on today though, heh.

We had to wrestle with the fridge to get it under the worksurface in the kitchen but ended up moving it to the other side where there’s more space (the floor is not straight.. such is the beauty of a building from the 1800s — it’s a gorgeous building though). This is probably a really boring detail that no one cares about but I feel the need to share with anyone who will listen anyway.

Right, off to finish moving the bed, half of the contents of the kitchen cupboards, clothes, toothpaste and other bathroom stuff, etc. It’s 8pm and we’ve not eaten yet. Argh!

(..and an ‘aside’ for those slightly lacking in the brain department: no, I’m not pregnant. I have no baby. Nil, nada, none. )

Warning

This post is over 6 months old. This means that, despite my best intentions, it may no longer be accurate. Age, motherhood, experience, loss... these things have all changed me from when this blog was started back in the heady (ha) days of my youth.

As much as I would like to go back and edit 10 years of archives to provide an insight into the 'me' of now — to update coding snippets and revise website advice — it would probably take years to do so (by which point I'd have to start again!) This would defeat the point of keeping these archives anyway.

Please take these posts for what they are: a brief look into my past, my history, my journey.

Reminds me of when I moved here :D I’m interested in hearing the details, however mundane. I like making a house a home… Hee!

More photos! The idea of old hair shooting up repulses me… though I’m sure not as much as it did you! Glad everything is going well with the move. :)

Ew, the hair thing totally made me feel sick. I think it would be so fun to move into a new apartment… All the decorating possibilities, and setting everything up to be all perfect… By the way, I love the site layout!

That’s really tiring. Reminds me when my family first moved to where we live now.

Best way to prevent people from falling for the ‘I’m pregnant’ joke: don’t throw it out there. ;)

Ah. You can’t blame the first-time visitors for really believing you’re pregnant. It’s more of an inside one. Wow. Old hair shooting out. Now that’s disgusting.

Glad you’re getting settled in…and I know it’s an unrelated question, but is cutenews full of security bugs? I’ve been trying to integrate wordpress into one of my sites and everybody says that cutenews is so much safer, but it reminds me of greymatter, so…I’m not sure if I can trust it…

I was pregnant once… naahhh only joking ;) See what I did there? Oh no, not hair. I’m afraid of hair. Especially wet hair. Eugh,oh god I think I’m gonna throw up!

@Shannon: I have no problem with people really believing I’m pregnant (all part of the fun), it’s the idiots who think they can tell me how to live my life (while hiding behind a fake email address) BECAUSE they think I’m pregnant that make it hilariously stupid (and demonstrates their lack of a back-bone).

Hope you had a restful night! Moving house is so exhausting – but arranging your stuff in the new place is the fun part :)

Just wanted to congratulate you on you and Karl’s new apartment. I think the room divider is pretty neat. I saw in your previous post how it seperated the kitchen from the livingroom. I hope you guys will have fun moving in, decorating and setting up the home altar (computers e.g)

(agrees with everyone and demands photos!) That is.. Disgusting. If hair shot out like the way it sounds, I’d be so freaked out. x_x

The bathroom sounds like how mine was.. after we had moved into it. It was my boyfriend, our roommate Dave, and myself. The shower got pretty disgusting; Especially with two hair guys. *gags* All I know is that I used to dump Draino into the tub in hopes that the hair would magically disintergrate without my having to scoop *guh* it out. Congrats on the new place though; Con with everyone else. I demand photos when you’ve got it all decked out with your stuff!

Getting your own place, and working to make it cosy always sounds like so much fun. I can’t wait till it’s my turn… though I dread to think of the price :P The bathroom thing… I don’t think it’s about a woman’s touch, more like a reasonably clean touch. YUCK! Tee-hee, I went to read your comments on account of your PS and can’t believe that someone actually thought you were pregnant, ESPECIALLY since you DO say you;re joking… *sighs*

Okay… That’s gross. I would have screamed. On your about page, below your navigation, it says this. “You’re currently browsing the Personal section. Use the navigation below to browse my subpages.” Maybe you can remove it already. :)

Oh, that hair must’ve been a little too much on the eyes. A woman’s touch, you say, but I can’t say the same for myself. I agree with Vera up there. :) Good luck with moving stuffs around. A pretty tiring “job,” but fun nevertheless.
