What I’m Doing Now

I recently found out about ‘Now’ pages via Mastodon (@jemjabella@mastodon.social and @jemjabella@wptoots.social in case you’re wondering) and found the concept intriguing – especially someone who not long ago 3 months ago lamented my failure to update regularly. The gist of the idea is that you have a page which gives visitors an update into your life right now instead of say, an about page, which could have been written 10+ years ago.

I kinda figured that I’d solve both my blogging problem and the “wtf is Jem doing right now” problem by having a Now page that automatically loads the last Now post from the blog. I can update the blog, page updates automatically, bob’s your uncle. So here’s my first “now”…

Right now at work I am celebrating taking on my first employee at my Ltd company. Matt, who has been working for me on a freelance basis for several months will take on the bulk of the project management, client liaison, freelancer point of contact type stuff. He’s already helping to optimise our processes, running the social media channels and just generally covering everything so I can actually code. Big step, very scary, and I have no idea how we got to this point!

Right now at home I’m coming to terms with the fact that Izzy just turned THIRTEEN. A whole teenager. I’m in the process of talking to the school about getting her assessed for autism, which is a whole dang blog post of its own. Olly is now in his last year of primary and is really thriving.

Right now I’m reading Beauty’s Release, the third book in the erotic Sleeping Beauty serise by Anne Rice (A.N. Roquelaure). It’s pure filth and I love it.

Right now I’m watching Elementary starring Jonny Lee Miller. I don’t watch a huge amount of TV but I’m fully invested in this. JLM plays the Sherlock character *perfectly*, and a lot of his reactions and mannerisms really feel eerily familiar (the autism thing – although thus far he’s not explicitly labelled.)

Right now I’m planning a bloody rest. Can’t wait til Christmas, this year has been HECTIC.
