You’re Fucking Kidding Me?

I was going through my stats earlier (as I do, several times a day, hah) when I came across Legion Training and Education Consultancy. No, I’m not planning on joining a foreign legion… the site is using tutorialtastic‘s layout and code — direct-linked files and all — as the base for their layout. Still, I’ve known about this site for a while but can’t be arsed to do anything about it because it’s not a ‘threat’ to my site(s).

With that said, almost nothing pisses me off more than someone making money off MY hard work. So, when I see someone advertising their “effective, stylish and affordable website design” using one of my old designs…

old1.net

…you can bet I’m not going to sit by and let some punk jack me off. So, Mr Daniel Alexandre, do you steal designs for your clients too, or just for your own sites?

loving that all your links are there – blocks, typo reports…

Almost as good as the random s=" floating around at the end of the page. Guessing that’s not one of yours? :p

    What a bloody cheek!

Let me design you a website, but guess what folks? I didn’t even design my own!

I would be furious. You should sent cease & desist emails to them. You can find free templates for them online….

    What a fucking prick

I love that a foreign legion is using your coding, that made me lol.

I’ve always wondered why someone opens up a design site but uses something SOMEONE else made. It’s like "oh hai hire me plz even though I stole this lovely layout you currently see but that’s no reflection of my skillz!" Major head desk moment. They always get caught as well, I wonder what his excuse will be.

OF: I love your browser skin it’s adorable :)

Hahahaha. Oh man, so bad.. Takes me back to when I used to steal neopets graphics from you and hippechickie_18. No, seriously though – people and their thievery these days. This is just probably the biggest oxymoron ever: stealing and hotlinking a layout for your webdesign business. ROFL.

    Wtfff.

I love the absolutely quality integration of the name "OLD1.NET". Matches perfectly of course.

I love how they slightly changed things but they’re still linking to your favicon.

Yeah someone did this with my site once. Stole all of the coding (including my comment tags) without a care. What is it with people thinking that all web designs and css are free grabs? Is there anything that can be done to prevent it?

Hmm… Maybe I’ll start making websites in Flash! XD

    "Broucher Design". LOL. Come on.

    I would really hate to see anyone making money off something that is stolen, web designs or not. Looking through some tweets the other week, a girl had won first prize in an art competition and was apparently accepted to an arts college (or something similar) when she had copied someone’s artwork from DeviantArt. I’ve started not to bother with people stealing the way I do things on my website – ideas, the fonts I use, etc. as I don’t see it as a big deal anymore (don’t get me wrong, it bothers me, especially when it’s one of my personal layouts and not the ones I care to offer – they tend to be of crappy quality anyway…). But it does get serious when someone is making money off of it. ;_;

His resume/CV is pretty amusing, "BSc Electronics, London Metropolitan University – 1st year only completed". Wouldn’t hurt to shoot him an email or give him a call casually asking why…

I’m been lucky, nobody has ever ripped me off, but I can only imagine what it feels like to have it happen. Some people just don’t care what they do.

Oh look, it’s been taken down. Or at the very least, we’ve all been banned from it :P

Apart from completely missing the point, do they not realise this gives them a lot of pressure to create something that’s obviously too difficult for them (must be otherwise they would’ve made a layout themselves)?

    Cheeky sods!
I have every confidence you will deal with this swiftly, fancy advertising someone else’s work as your own. A definate candidate for a Pants award if I ever saw one.

    Lol: "META content="Jem Turner" name=author"

Oooh so that’s Mr Alexandre…. by the way, the legion is still using TTs favicon (blasphemy!) :o

seriously though, the internet is a copyright nightmare. i feel your pain.. credit where credit is due!

Grrrr. It seems as though you can’t visit the site anymore, it says ‘forbidden, o bad, bla bla bla’ stuff. Too bad, I would’ve liked to see it. Ergh, whoever does this, is a moron and a douchebag. Seriously. Like you wouldn’t find out if someone freaking direct-linked all your images….

  22. Mimi says: May 14, 2010 at 3:14 am # ·

Wtf?? I hope you get him on this. LOL @ Anne pointing out the META tags are still saying you are the author. I mean why even do this, there are tons of free layouts he could rip off if he just felt like he had to.

Should we all contact him?! Harass him?! Please please, oh that would be fun. :)

To be honest i would not worry about it. The design is out dated and at the end of the day it is his lost. But, then again … the design is yours.
