Toad In The Hole
Toad in the Hole is a British ‘dish’ typically made of yorkshire pudding batter and sausages and is best served with mashed potatoes and gravy. I was too lazy to do the potatoes last night though. Doesn’t it just look delicious?

(Photography courtesy of wikipedia.) You can find a recipe at thefoody.com, but mine was a cheap buy-it-frozen version from Iceland (the shop).
Unrelated to toads, holes and British dishes, I have altered the way my free avatars are displayed and added a couple of new ones. Doctor Who fans might notice a ‘Tardis’ avatar based on original piece of my photography (which I’ll be more than happy to share if people want it).

I’m not too keen on meat but this looks really good :). Always nice to have things like that in your freezer just in case you don’t feel like ‘real’ cooking. My freezer is stuffed with things like that.

Yum, I love toad in the hole :) That Tardis avatar is great, Doctor who is the best.

Oh. Oh. Oh! That’s a Toad in the Hole! I’ve never known that. It looks… hmm. Interesting. I’m clueless, sorry.

Looks very very yummy!

Haha, I love Doctor Who. Despite the fact we have yorkshire pudding in Australia, we don’t really have toad in a hole. I’m not too keen on sausages though… we have them too often. =(

mmm. That looks much better than its name would imply. My father was a U.S. Navy officer and he frequently made a delicacy that Navy men referred to as ‘shit on a shingle’ – anyone know what that is?

Hah, what a great name for a dish! And yes, it does look delicious, thanks for rubbing it in… ;)

mmm, it does look declicious! heh, the name now… not so much. are those edible sides? XD

Why must I be the only one who thinks it looks slightly strange? When I was younger (which wasn’t all that long ago!) I thought toad in the hole was like, toast with a hole in the middle of it, and then an egg in the hole. Strange!

oh… so that’s what you meant! I was just staring at the previous post not really sure what I was supposed to get. Aside from the fact, of course, that I doubted you had blocked a hole with any kind of toad… As for me… well aside from fish and chips I have no idea what british people eat… I don’t even know what Romanians eat, for that matter.

Oh, man… that looks disgusting. But I would probably still eat it.

yummy..my mum’s toad-in-the-hole is LEGEND… Do you have onions in yours?

I HATE toad in the hole, with a passion. It’s doughy, chewy, and just so… blah. It’s plain, fatty, and just generally gross. I’ve told my mum as much as well. I’m not too sure she was impressed as generally she’s a superb cook. I wonder if they are any better from the packet? The things us English people come up with…

SOS was served as a breakfast meal. There were no mashed potatoes…. Just cove it with black pepper…. It really sticks with you for the day…. -
Toad in the hole is god. Especially when it’s nan-made yorkshire pudding.
