No News is Good News?

I hope. We are no closer to getting the keys, or so it seems. Both Karl and I spoke to the solicitor last week and everything appears to be done on their side, they’re waiting on the seller’s solicitors. We’ve both emphasised the fact that we have handed in our notice which probably won’t achieve anything will hopefully push them along a bit faster.

Have started to pack up crap in anticipation of a moving date, but at the same time eager to ditch as much extra stuff as possible. This is for three reasons:

  1. The very obvious fact that the less you have to move, the easier and quicker it will be to do so
  2. Of all the previously mobile moving helpers (Karl, my mum, me, etc) only one of us is still mobile. Although we’ll likely get around this by using a moving firm. It seems a little silly to get a firm in when we’re literally moving around the corner (seriously) but I can’t do it on my own.
  3. The new house is smaller than our rental. Plenty of opportunity for expansion but this isn’t going to happen overnight.

Now just to convince Karl that a new house requires a trip to IKEA…

  1. This sounds like a most excellent time to throw a moving party. :P Call up some friends, provide snacks and beer, and have them help you move your stuff! ;)

You’ll also have Karl and your mum as built-in Izzy watchers, so that can only be a good thing.

    I’m so stoked for you!!!

This message is for Karl: new house = trip to Ikea. It’s mathematical. Also they have those little Daim (sp?) candies that are like tiny Skor bars. Om nom nom. And did you know that Ikea cafeterias are licensed (at least here, they are. :P)?! So you can go to the caf, sip a beer or a Mike’s Hard Lemonade (classy) and Jem can just go take care of business, and you don’t even have to worry until the end! :D

  2. ahh IKEA. I’ve only been there ONCE in my life and I had an infant hanging from my arm and my sister running around like a weirdo with my mom. Oh and no money *nods* Yep, was awesome. :P

Good luck with the move and hopefully you get your new house soon :)

  3. A couple of things you might like to hear…1) Rob has said that not only is he happy to help you move, but if you wish to pay for a van he will happily drive it for us. 2) Kris will, I’m sure also help out.

I may not be as mobile as I was but rest assured I’ll do what I can to help too. Hopefully their side of things will pick up and move faster – I can’t see what their holdup is, after all it’s not like you have to wait for the vendors to find a house and move, the place is already empty so I think your solicitors should get onto them and shove a firework up their behinds to chivvy them along.

As for the trip to Ikea, who needs karl ;) Donna wants to go too so I’m sure we can come up with a solution to that. I like Ikea too and need some more sauce so a visit there will be in the near future.

  4. Having moved several times in my life, I will honestly say that it sucks. The last time my family moved, we had to hire a moving company because we were moving a couple hundred miles away and because we were moving a piano that we couldn’t carry ourselves. And the moving guys just seemed to easily pick everything up. They were awesome!

Hope that all this is over soon!

  5. Hey sweets!

Moving does indeed suck something awful, but in the end it is always worth it. Just keep thinking about the fact that you are going to have a new awesome place to live soon with your sweet little bundle of joy, and it will all be worth it in the end!

    As far as IKEA… that is an evil, evil place that continues to steal my money away from me. But I can’t help but visit it every time we go to Atlanta… so much well made cheap pretty. O____O;;
