Not Long to Go Now

An appropriate title in more than one way…

Firstly, we had confirmation this week that our applications for a different local property had gone through. We get the keys Friday 9th, and I’m hoping to be fully moved over that weekend. We’ll then have until November to get the flat shiny ‘n new, but given that we had to sacrifice our deposit to leave this tenancy early I’m not entirely bothered to waste too much time on it. This does mean that I’m likely to lose Internet connection at some point and have no idea when we’ll be back on; I will update my twitter by phone if anything exciting happens (hah).

Secondly, there is of course the small fact that I’m just over a month away from my due date. Still, even these last few weeks don’t seem to want to go by peacefully. After a routine antenatal check-up on Thursday I found myself booked in for a scan on Friday because the midwife was worried about baby being small for dates. Turns out that baby is fine, smack bang on the line for growth and the reason for the inaccurate fundal height measurement is because baby is very low in the pelvis. Although I did find out that apparently baby has long legs; just like his/her mum then!

By Friday afternoon I was in quite a lot of pain around my back, inner thigh and hip. This meant I got little sleep so by Saturday morning I was back in for another check, only to be told I have an irritable uterus. From what I’ve read, this simply means that my uterus is almost constantly contracting, but without causing any change to the cervix (although there is a slightly increased risk of pre-term labour). I’d assumed that this almost constant tightness was all fairly normal what with it being my first, but obviously not. Anyway, I’m sure I’m the only one who finds any of this actually interesting!

Have a nice week, everyone :)

Oh my, you’ll be a mommy soon! How exciting :D After reading your post I hope I don’t get pregnant for a long long time!

Nope, count me in as finding this interesting! I hope you’re not too uncomfortable though – I can’t imagine that would be super pleasant to sit through. Here’s hoping baby stays in for a while longer and doesn’t irritate your uterus too much. :)

I’m so glad you found a new flat!

Well then, here’s to everything going seamlessly, then. :) *toasts with orange juice* (FTR I can’t tolerate alcohol very well, so I’d be quite likely to actually toast that way IRL ;) )

I’m sorry to hear about the pain. I can’t believe it’s just about a month away from your due date! I feel like it went so fast! Congratulations on getting approved for your place, too! Seems like everything is coming together!!

You will do fine, Jem. I know you will. Have you started nesting yet? I am so excited for you. I am actually bouncing in my chair for you. Yep, I am weird, but then you know that. *Hugs Jem, lots of them*

Oh how exiting! I had asthma when I was born so my mom had tons of fun with that. ;)
    Good luck.

I moved about a month before my due date. It’s nice that you don’t have to help carry heavy things, but frustrating when stuff isn’t where you want it. Especially if you’re nesting! Good luck with the move and the remainder of your pregnancy. As tough as you’ve had it hopefully your labor and delivery will be easy.

Oh, it’s not a flat – I can’t be doing with that again. It’s a 200+ year old 2 bedroom house, in the grounds of the landladys even older place. Fully detached, so that when child won’t sleep and I’m up at god-knows-what time, I don’t have to worry about neighbours…

Plus the cats can really, REALLY run themselves ragged without me thinking about the noise.

Regardless of whether or not you start your labour early, your household contents plus 2 cats plus bloke WILL get moved over to the new place on Friday :) all you have to do is relax Jem and make the most of this last couple of weeks before your entire world, your outlook on life and many other things change forever (for the better) I will come armed with the heavy mob and we will sort it for you :)

Of course, there is one slight problem….most of us that have babies know when our labour starts because when the time is almost upon us, we start (as Hev so rightly stated) to ‘nest’ ie: you suddenly begin to clean, and clean, and clean. Taking curtains down and scrubbing things from top to bottom. However….if you have just moved house, and have unpacking etc to do, you may not notice that ‘extra burst of energy’ and miss the beginning so take it really easy this week and the next couple, just in case ;)

Psh, don’t be so emo! ;) There are plenty of people who like to read about your baby/body updates… like me! :D Glad that baby is still lookin’ good. I hope things keep going well and that these last few weeks go by smoothly with you and with the move!

That stuff about "nesting" is interesting… O_O …it keeps surprising me how little I know about pregnancy. Sort of intimidating.

Pregnancy posts for the win! I find the idea of nesting so comical, but that’s probably because I do it as a hobby. o0 I have control issues. Anyway. It’s regrettable they didn’t credit your deposit on the old place since it was their fault you guys moved. Bastids. But hurray for a nice new place to settle into! Take it easy, Jem!

The pelvic pain can also be from the baby pushing down. The closer you get to your due date, the more you’ll notice that too. I was absolutely miserable the last month of all of my pregnancies, my hips felt like they wanted to bust apart. I was pretty sure they would too but fortunately everything is still intact. ;)

Good luck with everything, I would tell you to take it easy by I never did. Don’t over do it, but physical activity is great when you’re pregnant. :D
