Cute New Bag

I bought myself a new bag for my birthday earlier this month, but only realised this week that I was yet to blog about it (of course you all want to read every minute detail of my life). I’m not really a girly “bag” person and so the fact that I now have three(!) shames me somewhat, but they do all have a specific purpose… sort of.

Anyway, the idea behind this new one was that it’d be great for carrying around the Acer netbook I got for Christmas. It’s hand-made, and I bought it from 92days @ etsy. The dimensions of the bag are spot-on perfect for the Aspire One, and I can fit a few other odds and ends in too. It’s reversible, so if I’m feeling particularly bored or girly one day I can flip it inside out and have a different design on view.

I can already tell you’re all super jealous :D

  1. I WANT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! GIVE IT TO ME!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jealous, Jem. No fair. You don’t let me have Hex, you won’t let me have Fudge. Now I am also pretty sure you won’t let me have the Acer or the bag, right?

I love it. I think it is really cute. Don’t worry have three bags doesn’t make you a girly girl. I have six & I am not a girly girl.

  2. That’s a really cute bag! I’d get it too if a. my parents let me buy things on the Internet and b. I didn’t already have a gazillion bags. :P

  3. Aww that’s cute bag ^_^

  4. Oooooh! That is a super cute bag. How i love pokadots.

It also reminds me that i have an amazing sewing machine at home and that I could make a cute bag!!

Etsy is pretty awesome. I love supporting other crafters out there and it’s all so awesome and unique and pretty.

  5. Cute! Bit too big for my needs, but the pattern is indeed nice :)

  6. You make me too jealous to read your blog. But I am still reading it.

  7. If I were a girl and had a use for that, I would get it in a heartbeat. :D

  8. Let ME make YOU jealous. I got this at Target yesterday for $5.74 : http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51O1JR3tMUL._AA260_.jpg

    OUCH!

  9. I’m on the lookout for a new laptop bag and I never even though of checking out etsy and folksy! Duh, obvious really.

I can’t justify carrying my laptop, iPod, tripod(s), various USB cables and chargers as well as my point and shoot camera around in a baby pink backpack any more. It might be protecting all my electronic babies, but the pink’s a bit too girly for me. Well seeing it was priced wrong in PC World and I got it for £3 instead of £30!

*heads straight over to etsy to look*

  10. Cute bag! I don’t have to carry my laptop around much so I wouldn’t need one of those bags but it’s pretty and technically it’s two bags into one ;)

  11. LOL… is this the beginning of a fashion category in your blog? XD

Loving the red bag, though! Very nice =)

  12. Oh, that’s darling. I really really like it!

  13. You can get the cutest things on etsy! My best friend always gets me something from there for my birthday. You can get just about anything on there from geeky stuff to vintage and more(: Very pretty bag.

  14. I love that bag, only thing worries me with bags like that is how waterproof they are, as I don’t drive, so walking to the bus in the rain with a wet laptop bag = broken laptop.

I’m gonna look at her shop now though :-)

  15. I have eleven and I’m a guy. -_-

    Cute bag, totally love it!

  16. Those are really cute bags. I especially like the second pattern.

  17. I saw that on Snark :P Good choice, I like the idea of flpping, hehe. (I’m not jealous :l)

  18. AHHHHHHHHHHH! That’s too cute! I had to look at that shop. Okay, I think I’ll have enough money by March to get one for my birthday.

  19. I prefer the red side, it’s well made and a good size too :)

  20. I really like that bag, the more girlie side in particular! I’m going to have a look on etsy now – I like the sound of it!

  21. What I don’t understand, Jem, is why you inexorably avoid ‘girly’ things as though you want to maintain this anti-girl image which is as bad a mindset as your assumed ‘girly’ counterparts. What I mean is… Why on Earth should it shame you to own three bags? Why do you have to submit to ‘fashion’ only when it has a genuine purpose? Can’t you just /like the bags/?! Doesn’t make you anything other than what you were and still are.

A few years ago I went round avoiding anything mainstream and avoided certain genres of music like the plague and fervently refused to watch things like the X Factor. Then I realised, the designer labels are popular for a reason. Music has its own merits regardless of genre. X Factor and particularly Britain’s Got Talent, although I’m never going to vote, does feature an extraordinary amount of talent that I don’t want to miss. I’m not any less of a computer geek no matter how many pairs of designer glasses I own (which is, by the way, 3 now and I don’t feel ashamed of it at all – if I’m gonna wear something on my face 24/7 it has to be cute) and it doesn’t mean I wouldn’t wear anything but designer labels and am all for supporting local industry and handmade goods (I knit and sew myself and know how much time and effort goes into it) and am still known to be a bit of a tomboy with my love of trains despite the flowery skirts I wear.

Anyway, that’s just my opinion. Your bag /is/ cute. ;) I have maybe seven bags in total, three of which were handmade from people through crafting swaps. I use the handmade ones the most, they are really unique and stylish. :D One has my name in Japanese on it and is rather large – I use it as a weekend and shopping bag. I have a very small flowery one that a friend made from her grandma’s dress which I use an awful lot. And a Japanese Geisha bag (embroidered by hand!) which fits my university books and pens in perfectly. :)

Sorry if this was TLDR for the majority of folks. XD

  22. Oh, and sorry for blogjacking there. :o It was a bit long, wasn’t it?

Woah.. Kachii, I think you need to read my blog a wee bit more if you thought I was being serious.

  24. I’m not a bag person, either. I really like that bag though; it’s so cute. :D

  25. I saw the bag on Kathleen’s Etsy page before. I hope she puts up more items for sale soon!

  26. I do read your blog, Jem, and you know that I have done for years and I know you always tried to distance yourself from these type of posts for fear of seeming remotely girly…

Besides, why would I doubt the seriousness of any of your blog posts? I’m not a mind reader. I always take the majority of you write seriously – after all, you wouldn’t have written it if you didn’t mean it. At least that’s the impression I’ve always had about you since the first time we spoke – and it’s precisely what I liked about you.

  27. You got an Acer notebook for Christmas and I’m supposed to be jealous of your bags? *shakes head*

  28. Cute etsy find, etsy is my achilles heel. I can personally recommend Splatgirl and SeaBreezeStudio @ etsy for their bags, too. (Especially for custom orders)

Must be something the water – I’ve just blogged about a new bag too (though I’ll proudly admit to being every inch a bag-addict ;) )

  29. *is super jealous* If I buy one though I want brighter colors, like.. random crazy stripes and rainbows and stuff. I am kind of loud like that. XD

  30. I happened to grab her second one :) Thanks to your post, of course.

Mimi: she has a new one up that’s much brighter.
