Up Shit Creek

Minus a paddle… and, oh yes, a purse.

I went to leave the house this morning ready to jump on a bus and head to my mum’s, only to discover that my purse (that may be ‘wallet’ to you American types) wasn’t in my bag. I’ll cut a long, boring search story short… I haven’t found my purse. I’ve been to work, tracked back along the roads I walked on yesterday, scoured the house from top to bottom and even roped in my mum and Karl to help me look, but it’s nowhere to be found.

That means I’ve potentially lost my two debit cards, anything from £5-£15 in cash (I don’t tend to carry that much cash on me), Karl’s driving license, NI card, birth certificate, etc etc. Worse than that though (because ultimately, money is replaceable and so are the other bits), my favourite pictures of Charlotte and Dylan from when they were babies and two pictures of Karl from when he was much younger.

I last remember using my purse Wednesday lunch time, and Karl is adamant that he took his debit card out of it on Wednesday evening and put the purse back in my bag. That means it somehow got out of my bag yesterday, and is now missing. The thing is, at no point do I remember taking it out, and after both the journey to work and the journey home, the bag was zipped up shut.

If any of you have any psychic suggestions, I’m all ears.

UBER UPDATE: thank f*ck for that! A colleague has found my purse in his car. Phew.

  1. ow crap.
I hope you find it, I agree that sentimental value is double monetary value. Maybe call the police, someone may have handed it in?
    Good luck with finding it,
    Joe.

Maybe Karl missed your bag when he put it away?
    :X Hire a cat whisperer?

£100,000,000,000 says that once you get everything replaced (just about), you just your purse.

  3. No suggestions, and I really do feel for you.

However, still can’t believe you had your NI card, birth certificate and Karl’s driving license in there. Tut tut.

Anyway I hope it turns up soon.

  4. Wow, that’s not good at all.

Like Mackenzie says, Sod’s Law is that it’s going to turn out after you’ve got it all replaced.

I really hope it turns up though.

  5. Look in the easiest place possible, and it will be there. I forgot where I put my iPod on a chair and totally forgot where I put it.

    You will find it!

  6. What were you doing in your colleague’s car that caused your purse to fall out? hmmm

    I love English words.
    Purse=wallet
    Bag=purse

    Our purse=your bag lol

    >.>

  7. Thank god you found it!! Losing stuff can be so stressful :(

  8. Oh wow, I was all ready for suggestions. Good thing they found it. When I was 15 I lost my wallet (er, purse!) and it had all of that good stuff in it, too (sans the money, the fools.) but I never ever found it. Woe was me!

@Anthony: I walk to work, and he’d picked me up about 5 minutes away and given me a lift the rest of the way in :)

  10. Glad you found it!

  11. Cool that you found it. I did that once, left my “purse” at a highway rest stop’s bathroom. I had to drive back about 10-15 miles and through TWO tolls (both ways) to get it. Surely sucked balls!

  12. At least you’ve got it back now *breathes sigh of relief*

I once thought I’d lost my phone and I freaked out because I thought of all the pictures on it. I thought someone had stolen it while I was in college and that they were using it.

..I eventually found in the most obvious place, my coat pocket! >_<

  13. OMG, so glad you found it!

I lost my driver’s license while my hair was pink and my new one has a picture of my bubblegum hair so everyone looks at it twice XD

  14. Thank kitties you found it! I have lost my wallet twice (or was that three times?) for very stupid reasons. I tend to forget it on public phones…Once, I was lucky enough for the money to still be in it. I usually don’t leave much money inside, but that particular time there was some $60 if not more.

  15. That’s a relief that you found it! :D

  16. Glad you found it safe and sound :o)

  17. Ooh, close one! I’d take out the NI number, photos and birth certificate <.<

  18. I accidentally left my wallet on an Amtrack train coming home from Massachusetts last year (around this time actually). We got off in New York, but my wallet ended up in Washington DC. I had all my IDs in there (license, social security card, birth certificate) plus about $250 in cash and some defunct credit/debit cards.

I reported it the second I found out it was missing (which was about 10 minutes after we got off the train) and thankfully I got everything (even the cash) back.

  19. Wow, you lucky girl!
I remember I left my wallet lying somewhere when I was 10-ish… and it had quite a bit of money (from me) at the time. I never found it, since we’ve been going around town… and I had a tendency to take it out a lot :\
Of course, aside money there was nothing important in there.

  20. Oh, so glad you found it! I would FREAK if my wallet/purse went missing.

  21. Hah, it seems everyone is losing their wallet/purse nowadays. My little brother lost his in the school bus and I had to call the school, then the bus company people and then the bus driver himself.

Thankfully, the bus chauffeur dude found it.

  22. Were you at any point in your colleague’s car?
If not I would deffinataly question how it got to be in there o_O lol.
It seems something fishy is going on…. hehe
    ?

  23. Lordy lord, thank goodness!

  25. I’m glad he found it! Holy shit what luck! Feel free to lend me some of that.

  26. WOW! I just read the post below this one and the only thing I can say is: WOW! You have done an awesome job on rev.iew.me! I totally love that site! I am not on it for hours, but I visit it alot during one day! And I also try to write some reviews here and there but there are a lot of people who are WAY MORE active than I am! But I will do my best, when I have time again. Because right now school is more important. Bye <3

  27. I’m glad your purse turned up! I’d have been really frustrated if mine had disappeared too!

  28. WHOA, scary!!! Glad you found it though :)
