Smells Like Diamonds

Bold, a company that produces soap powder (to wash your clothes with), started advertising a “new premium range of luxuriously perfumed super sensory laundry products” several months ago. The television adverts tell us that we too could smell like an infusion of white lotus flower and diamond.

I don’t get it. I’ve sniffed my jewellery; it doesn’t have a distinctive odour that I could pick up on. So how, pray tell, does one manage to infuse the scent of diamonds into a poncy washing tablet that probably costs twice the price of standard Tesco cheap-as-chips non-biological washing powder?

It’s a bloody con, that’s what it is, and Karl’s fed up of me shouting at the TV about it so I thought I’d write it down and get it out once and for all. :P

Sean and I think exactly the same thing. Our Tesco own brand stuff is just as good as the poncy, pretentious detergent.

    Diamond smelling?
    That’s something I haven’t heard.
New insult: “Dude, you smell like diamond.”
Or would that be a compliment?!

The worst one is a perfume retailer we make a website for described a perfume smelt “Like a nighttime’s worth of unbridled passion”.

Now I’m sorry, but I don’t want a fragrance smelling of sweat, chocolate sauce and other unmentionable fluids. Eeeewww.

I’ve sniffed jewellery before (it’s not THAT weird!) and all I can smell is the same smell of when you hold coins in your hand too long. 0_o Why would I want my clothes smelling like that?!

I wouldn’t want to smell like diamonds.

No, hang on, this cannot be true! The TV says it’s real so it must be. I’ll just finish washing my hair in stuff that makes me orgasm in the shower then I will brush my teeth with toothpaste that makes my teeth shine in the dark, pop my diamond smelling clothes on and spray myself with deodorant that drives women wild, eaten my fat free yoghurt that does contain fat and I’ll prove it pmsl. That is of course if I can get past the flying cows, spotlessly clean children and cars made from cake mixture.

LOL that’s the funniest thing I have heard all day. What does a diamond smell like?

Sorry for the second comment-perhaps they meant “white diamond” as in the scent, rather than just “diamond”.

I think White Diamonds is an Elizabeth Taylor perfume scent. Maybe the smell is similar?

LMAO! I’ve been doing exactly the same thing – that is yelling at the television everytime that smug woman struts along in what looks like a nightdress, smiling because she’s just done her washing with a laundry product of lies.

My brother and I had a discussion as to what diamonds could possibly smell like. We decided it’s blood, and that the ‘scented infusion’ of blood and lotus flower was less than desirable.

LMAO @ “I’ll just finish washing my hair in stuff that makes me orgasm in the shower”

I’ve always just assumed that for the Herbal Essences ads, there must be a second shower head, below the line of shot. ;)

    Oh, great minds!

I always think that when that stupid advert comes on!

And seeing the Cillit Bang comments, I have to say this. Barry Scott (HI! I’M BARRY SCOTT!) has more than likely caused the deafness of 2463251 poor OAPs because of his shouting of the stupid product that can clean pennies.

    Oh my…

There’s a ladies products company that has the slogan “Have a happy period.” Yeah, sure…. that’s the happiest time of the month.

Well I hate to disappoint you all, but gemstones do have a smell. You just can’t smell it unless you grind them up. Sorry everyone, but they do have a distinct smell all their own. To my understanding, each gemstone ground up into a powder will smell a certain smell & each one will smell a little different. In other words, just because one diamond, ground up put of one smell, doesn’t mean that you will get the exact same smell from the next diamond you ground up. The smells will be similar, but not the same. Just the same for any gemstone out there. But it only work on real gemstones, not the man made gemstones.
