NinjaLinks Public Release

In the absence of any further bug reports, I’ve decided to release NinjaLinks to the public. It is still very much in a state of testing in my mind, and there are is a list of features that I have yet to add, but there is no better feedback than that of someone who’s using the script!

Just to give you a clue as to what’s outstanding from the original list of features asked of me:

  • control options via admin panel
  • premium links option for paid positions
  • search directory form
  • sort by options in admin panel
  • email link owner via admin panel
  • individual pages for updates with RSS feed
  • affiliate management
  • link rating system
  • view by tags, view by rating

Anyway. Without further ado, have at it… :D

Wow, I really thought it’d be quite a while longer before you released it XD *goes to download* Thanks, Jem! I know plenty of us have been waiting for a good directory script for a long time. :)

Jem, I think you left your DB info in?

Yeah, OK, nvm, you fixed it. :P

I did, but it doesn’t matter because it was only the info for my local copy of it. Nobody can do any damage with it. :)

Oooh. I was thinking of making a web directory since so many I find aren’t up to date. If I decide to do it, I’ll definitely use this. :)

Yay! I don’t really have a use for it right now, but I’m excited to test it out nonetheless!

Oh, that is lovely. I wish I could use it for something. Eventually maybe.

I’m testing it out right now! I’ll be sure to plug when I release the site that I’m using it on, of course. :)

Ah, Jem! I love your scripts. So functional and versatile…
PHP is my enemy, but thanks to you, I don’t have to bother to learn it. :P

Wow pretty cool – I was looking at directory scripts a while back, if I ever do decide to build one I’ll use ninjalinks. Woo!

Sounds great! I don’t have a use for it (yet) but I will surely keep it in mind for the future.

I’m so tempted to download it! I think I’ll wait until it’s completely finished, though. :)

Ok, I just want to make sure that I have this correct. NinjaLinks is a directory where you store all your links, right? Kinda like delicious? Or am I completely wrong? Please, don’t hate me Jem. I am a little confused or my head is just really messed up today.

@Hev: It’s a script meant for a link listing, like Glitter @ glitter.silencia.net (which is indeed running NinjaLinks).

Thanks for the new script! Now I’m finally free from simpledir haha! (I’ll consider this a subconscious birthday gift… my birthday is tomorrow (today your time zone) :) )

I’ll do a test run and maybe wait till you say it’s completed. :)

Sorry I didn’t get back to you again (last week has been a bit hectic), but I’m happy it’s now available to everyone. I hope to see some decent new directories spring up.

You’d better also add NinjaLinks to your safe alternatives to Unsafe Scripts. :)

I think this is good timing. I have been wanting a listing of my own, although I don’t know if anyone will join it or not. I can try, I have dreams too!!! ;_; I can’t wait to test the long-awaited Ninja Links!

Thank you for this release – I just installed it today and have yet to find any bugs.

The one thing I might request in the next release, however, is a Mass Approve option. Because there are no conversion scripts (from, for example, SimpleDir 3.2 to NinjaLinks), there’s no other way but to go through the links I had and add them manually. Since I am checking them as I add them, I know that they’re fine to be approved, and therefore a Mass Approve option would be ideal.

Other than that, I’m in love! Thanks, Jem :D

    Ok, I found a bug :P
When you have more than one page of links on the frontend, and select Page 2 (or 3, 4, etc.), it goes back to the main menu. Someone’s probably already brought that up but in case they haven’t.
Otherwise, pretty much everything else that I’m missing is in line for the next release so thanks :D

I’d have to agree with Terri and say that a mass approve option would be wonderful.

Also, is it possible to have it so categories can be more than one word? I keep getting error messages whenever I try to put in, for example, “Theme Parks” (and “Resorts”, while usable, isn’t quite perfect).

    Other than that, hooray!
