New Review, Ego Flattering etc
It’s been a few months, but there’s finally a new unrequested review up. The victim this time is one ‘nothingbutsong.org/tutorials’; in accordance with my ranty post on bad tutorial sites I have made the review pure critique of the code/tutorials. Most of the rubbish (and yet amusing) ‘banter’ has been taken out in favour of getting to the point. Some quotes, to tease you in…
You point out that the tutorial is “For those of you who have installed similar scripts or have a lot of knowledge about these types of things”: surely someone who has a lot of knowledge on these types of things would not need to visit an amateur tutorial site to figure out how to install WordPress?
I have no idea what a “blog crew” is but I’ll be honest with you, it was this tutorial that irritated me enough to start the review. Specifically this line: “PHP is the next gen of web design”. WHAT?
And in other news, my site & this ‘new’ design were featured in a CSS gallery this weekend. Many thanks to cssmess.com for the compliments regarding my design and content. :)
Finally, happy birthday to my sister who turned 15 today! I can now reveal that I bought her a bright pink Nintendo DS Lite.. and I think from her reaction I can honestly say she likes it. Hoorah for me, for being the best big sister in the world.

My little sister turns 16 in a couple more weeks, and I have no idea what to get her. Might end up just giving her some money for clothes shopping, since she always complains about not having enough clothes. It feels good when you notice that you’re actually a good big sister. I would’ve never imagined to see such a big smile (caused by me) on my lil bro’s face than when I gave him book about Black Sabbath. And it felt good. Ooh nice review once again. ^^

I did appreciate that they had a Mac department. I’m just saying, there’s Mac and PC users. And many, many people use Macs. They’re assuming everyone uses Windows, and really, Macs are becoming more popular. Mostly due to it’s switch to Intel. 50 million consumers bought Macs in 2006, and over half were new to the OS. It’s the standard for any design or magazine company. So it’s not like Windows is the default OS for the world, and it seemed they assumed this. I should have been asked before led into a conversation where I did not get any support and had to begin over with someone else. But things could have been worse. There could have been no one to help me due to that fact I use Mac OS X.

I’m wondering why people have to put up sites like that. In fact, the whole tutorial site thing deem pointless to me. Internet is in itself a vast source of tutorials. If one has to find instructions on the usage of a particular software, they could just search them up and an official forum would most likely appear where more credible and professional people could help them. Unless a person is an expert, I guess he/she is just wasting web space by creating nuissance tutorial sites. Btw, your sister is such a lucky one to have a rich big sister! I have two younger sisters and as much as I wish to provide them cool stuff, I just can’t afford a gadget such as that.
