tutorialtastic is live!

Finally, tutorialtastic is live. After some minor issues with a some .htaccess magic, and a moment of last minute panic where I realised I needed to use “../” before internal links in all of my tutorials; I have it up! There’s still some links which’ll be broken until I fix them, some tutorials that didn’t get added (but will be added over time) but otherwise it’s ready.

The release of the new tutorialtastic also means a new plugin for BellaBook3.1: Pagination! Anyone who wants their entries spread across multiple pages instead of all in one needs to check that out. :)

Anyone who volunteered to plug the site.. you can go ahead and do it now. ;D Feel free to leave feedback, suggestions, bug reports, etc here.

  1. Yay! Had a quick browse, and everything looks great, but I must head off to bed now. It’s getting a proper going over tomorrow though, as soon as I finish work and come home. :) (Oh, and I plugged a bit early :P)

  2. i have plugged :D

  3. Looked aorund and things look great, though I’m not sure how I can apply the skinning tutorial for me, as I don’t have access to that directory (public/html/user…). My host only gave me a subdomain… Oh and you promised a PHP FAQ =P Yes, I’m ungrateful, never been otherwise. Plugged at the end of my latest blog entry.

  4. Just checking in quickly to see the new tutorialtastic and I must say I like the layout. I really need to stick my nose into some of the tutorials you have on there because I must say that I’ve not really ever looked through them at all!

  5. Ooh it looks great. I’ve plugged. ;D

  6. Not only did tutorialtastic have a new layout, your site did too! (Oops, I know I am terribly slow. My apologies for not dropping by in a long while. In fact, I owe several people an explanation too.) I love this shade of green! And the slogan below your site’s name – “Ultimately better than you!” :P Hehe. Nice touch there. Anyway, tutorialtastic looks extremely professional now. I am going to bookmark it for my future reference, just in case I encounter any PHP problems! ;)

  7. Already had a little look at it and it looks fantastic. Shall plug when I get some homework done. *grumble grumble*

  8. I want to plug you in my blog, but I’m too grumpy to come up with something to blog about ;P So you might have to wait awhile. However, I did plug you on a few forums ^^

  9. it looks great. and i downloaded bellabook. cant wait to try it out.

  10. It looks wonderful. I’m glad you have your project up and running :)

  11. Project? WTF was I thinking. My head is swarming with english and US Hist essays, reports and projects so that’s why I called it that. Ummm… Yes, so, I’m glad tutorialtastic is up! I’m really excited about that – maybe your skinning method will work for me now. Once I skin the site. Which I am revamping. But I didn’t tell you that, shh…

  12. OMG, Coppermine tutorial! LOVE FOREVER. All your tutorials are always so helpful and easy to use. I’m really glad you started this project. :D

  13. I am sorry I posted the plug so late today. Silly me, I am so brain dead right now. Good luck with your new site, it looks awesome. =)

  14. I love the new look of tutorialtastic. You have done a great job with it – of course, I expect nothing less :) ….Goes to browse around more

  15. Well done! It looks really clean and professional – very nice. I’m going to post a belated plug (belated because I haven’t had phone service all day). One thing I might query is the alphabetical arrangement of the tutorials within each topic section, as it’s not necessarily the most intuitive one (e.g. ‘What is CSS?’ appears last in the list of CSS tutorials). Also, as someone who uses SSIs all the time (since they’re used with ASP pages), I’m not sure you do justice to their power, since you only explain the ‘file’ method of inclusion and not the ‘virtual’ method (which I think might actually make them more flexible than PHP includes, though I’ve never used the latter so could be misunderstanding them). Sorry – I’m a bit protective of SSIs :)

  16. Ah, scrap the alphabetical thing – it struck me that since you’re serving the links from a database (I assume), that is really the only way to do it (short of a random order).

  17. It looks really nice! I skimmed through some of the new tutorials and they look really good :). I’ll plug tutorialtastic the next tiem I blog.

  18. Yay, plugged it. Looks nice and new, too. :)

  19. Lovely job! I like the brighter look. Very clean and… oh, everyone else has already said it all. So I will dance it for you. *does interpretive dance of approval and appreciation* (And I know I’m late to the party, but I blogged and plugged. In my own weird way, of course… :P )

  20. It looks great! I looked at it before I came to here, ha. But I’m too lazy to plug. But I’m going to finish my new blog layout. To give a hint, I don’t think that my new layout will have any interesting images or cool colourful graphics on it. Just made from CSS or something xD. I’ll plug when I’m done with it, to be short.

  21. The site looks great. It’s always been one of the best tutorial sites out there, and I’m just a bit sad that I haven’t needed to use any of the tutorials thus far. I see that you’ve also added pixels for download. =) Only complaint is that upon loading, the site’s default text size is tiny and so forces to me utilize the Ctrl+ function..

  22. Your work is wonderful as usual, Jem :P Oh, and thank you for writing your amazing skinning tutorial. I shall have to try it. The usual method is doing my head in, and WordPress is being a bitch.

  23. It looks fantastic! I love your coppermine tutorial.

  24. Jem, just wondering – you wouldn’t happen to have any ‘comments’ from the ip 64.231.22.156 would you?

  25. I know I’m a day late, but I plugged your tutorial site in the blog entry I made today. It looks fabulous, by the way :D

  26. thanks for that coppermine tutorial.. oh btw… can you add DHTML in your list? or Macromedia Extension…maybe?

  27. It looks really great. Except that you linked your images to examples/image.something from the page directory, while the examples directory is located at the root domain.

  28. I love your seventh skin on jemjabella – just found it and thought I’d sing it’s praises. I lurve it :)

  29. Ooh, it looks great! :) I’ll plug it in the next Toasty Host newsletter (which I should be sending out next week). ‘Tis kinda relevant, after all. :D

  30. I’m sorry I didn’t plug you… mainly because I was completely pissed out of my mind and had an almighty hangover to prove it XD;

  31. Will plug when I get home tonight. :) Late, but better than never, right? V xx

  32. Great site! I’ve been lazy about the way I post tutorials up on my own site, but you’ve inspired me to start planning a better presentation. (Of course the to-do list also includes 8 zillion other things, not the least of which is to design my own WP template, learn Drupal, and exercise more, but hey- who needs sleep!) Well done. You’ve been bookmarked.
