Eeeeeeeeee!

“Eeeeeeeeee!” is the sound one makes when something you’ve quite positively slaved over for hundreds of years has a fanlisting made to celebrate it! I don’t care how generally pointless they are, there is nothing better than knowing a person (in this case, Amelie) likes something you’ve done so much that they’re going to dedicate time and energy into maintaining a fanlisting for said something. Drumroll please.. ..there is now a BellaBook fanlisting! :D

Anyone who questions why I joined the fanlisting for my own guestbook has obviously never spent as many hours devoted to one script as I did/do. Of course, the fanlisting would look so much better with more than 2 members.

Talking of BellaBook and fanlistings, I’m actually 90% through a tutorial on how to turn BellaBook into a fanlisting management script. This probably sounds a little odd, but I was going to create a similar script (BellaBoffins, heh) and then questioned the point, when most of the functionality is already there in BB3.2 — moderation, word blocking, filtering, the new captcha plugin, etc. Keep an eye on my external updates in the sidebar for tutorialtastic ’cause it’ll be out soon.

Congratulation on the fanlisting for Bellabook. (: Would captchas on a fanlisting be good? I was never concerned much before until I got vision impaired people telling me they were unable to use certain aspects of my site because of captchas. I mean, it’s a small amount of the population and maybe it won’t matter but if secret words aren’t allowed I don’t see how captchas would be. Sorry, I’m just beginning to try to convert my main site to be more accessible and I have a big challenge ahead of me.

Gabrielle posted pretty much what I wanted to say. Bellabook is a great script and all, but I’m not sure about the captcha. TFL says you can’t require any field other than name, country and email address. The password on Enthusiast is fine because it does not have to be filled in, but if someone can’t see the captcha, the form simply won’t get through.

Congrats! You must feel so proud, and you deserve it. I haven’t yet been ‘converted’ to use it, seeing that when I did have a guestbook, I had so many “hi, I’m Blah” messages, that I decided there’s no use for it. Incidentally, I’ve noticed your new layout, but since I suffer of chronical lazyness, I haven’t commented until now. I like the fact that the bottom of the header image has an “L” (well if you look at it in a certain way) form, but maybe the line under your headings should start at the ending line of the header image. I believe that woul look better. other than this, it’s a fantabulous layout. I love it.

@Julie – I was talking about the functionality of BellaBook, not what necessarily *would* be in either the conversion tutorial or BellaBoffins (whichever I decide to do, because I’m having second thoughts about the tutorial – it’s a lot more complex for php newbies than it originally looked). At the end of the day, TFL don’t ‘control’ all fanlistings and certainly don’t control my scripts, and I know plenty of people who run non-official fanlistings who would be interesting in a captcha for their FL. :) I will talk to the senior staff about captchas and the whole required fields thing, but their decision either way isn’t going to affect what I do with my script. TFL-approved FL owners would simply have to turn off the captcha should I implement it. :/

To anyone trying to access/join the bb fanlisting… My server seems to have suffered some electrical fault and is therefore down. :(

Ah, I love making fanlistings. So from my point of view, you should REALLY feel flattered because one must really LOVE something in order to spend the time making a fanlisting for it. Congratulations!
