BellaBook3.3 is Out

For those who use BellaBook, there’s a new version out. If you’re using versions 3.1 or 3.2, you can download the new version, delete the blank text files in the new one, customise the config.php file to match your current preferences and upload the new admin.php, sign.php and other PHP files over the top of your old ones. For those to lazy to check the readme, the new version has the following features and fixes:

  • Removed version number from footer
  • Improved/compressed code in admin.php to cut down on bloat
  • Checks for invalid characters in spam words
  • More rigorous checking of data input in admin.php
  • Prev/Next added to entry pagination on index.php
  • Customisable ‘Return to site’ link added to footer.php
  • Emoticons included – turn them on or off
  • Captcha included – turn it on or off

You can see the minor cosmetic changes on the tutorialtastic demo guestbook.

Edit: those using BellaBook in conjunction with WordPress will need to download the latest version again. I named the footer function get_footer() which apparently is what WP uses. If you get an error that sounds like: Fatal error: Cannot redeclare get_footer() ..download the latest version, in which this issue is fixed.

  1. What a coincidence… I was just at Tutorialtastic to see if there was a new BellaBook update, and ta-da, a new version has come out! *runs off to upgrade*

  2. Jem = oh-so-evil (but in a godo way!). I’ve just spent an hour upgrading my Bellabook. Uploadng the files only took ten seconds, it was editing the index.php and sign.php to fit in with my layouts that were the killer. >.< Idea: Maybe for the next version of BellaBook we could just have a php snippet to include on an appropriate page? Something much like the FanUpdate snippet. Just a thought. :)

  3. Very nifty update. I like things that don’t require databases ;)

  4. *Points at sidebar* You need to update that :P

  5. Jem, have I told you that I will love you forever? I have? Oh.. Okay. I’ll say it again then!
