I know, I change layouts more often than I change my underwear, but seriously.. who didn’t find the blue incredibly bland? You didn’t? Oh, well, I did. I am still sticking with the lines and circles — lines under headers, blocky navigation, circles in the header etc — just making things a little more fruity in the colour department. By fruity I mean “a colour that I can’t stand but is livening things up”. Yehaw.
The green link hover colour is not stopping, and I’m making changes to each section (because it’s about time I updated parts of my site, really). There will be the results of a little study I did added to my Personal Website Adverts rant later on this week and I’m doing some pruning of out of date links/etc. Oh, and for the first time since.. well, a long time ago, I had to fight with IE to make things work properly! When you use percentage paddings it makes things jump about, and I couldn’t be arsed to work around it so I just made a special non-fluid IE layout.
Work is, at the moment, drying up my “blogspiration”. I come home so hot and tired that I can’t be bothered to make up crap to blabber on about. So, until I either become super woman or things change at work, you’ll have to put up with my layout/site related ramblings…
Edit (3rd July):
02 Jul at 6:06 pm
The new layout rocks!
02 Jul at 6:23 pm
The layout looks a bit weird for me (in Firefox), the content box is a bit over the header. But maybe it chould look like that?
02 Jul at 6:34 pm
It’s supposed to look like that.
02 Jul at 7:38 pm
Oh wow Jem, this is my favorite layout from you yet! Only you can make me not cringe at pink. ;)
02 Jul at 8:33 pm
I know how you feel about blogspiration. Lovely new look. Very you. :) V xx
02 Jul at 8:51 pm
Grey and pink – I definitely love it!
02 Jul at 8:57 pm
Pink and grey is always a winner combination, and the bright pink gives the site just that more spiffyness. Great choice. :) I also love the background pattern, the wider stripes suit the blocky navigation.
02 Jul at 10:07 pm
Leave the green link hovers, it adds interest to the pink & gray. :-) As for blogspiration, it doesn’t have to be about daily life to be interesting. I find site and layout updates interesting, too… as do others, apparently, haha.
02 Jul at 10:43 pm
Ah, you can keep the green hovers :) …pink and green works…doesn’t it? *glances worriedly over at her own blog*…Right?…
03 Jul at 12:31 am
I liked the blue, but then again, my favorite color is blue. Since my second favorite color is probably pink, I like this one, too. :) Pink and the gray striped background (and that green!) look very professional, and the circles and body positioning give it a “fun” feel. Very nicely executed!
03 Jul at 1:21 am
Your new layout is very pretty. I think you should keep the hover links as it spices up the whole thing. (:
03 Jul at 1:26 am
Love the new layout! Looks great in IE5/Mac, at least… but what is with the background for the title dropping into the sidebar in Safari and Camino? Is it supposed to do that? Anyways, yet another great layout, as usual. And the green hovers are shibby with the pink and gray, adds some uniqueness to the color scheme. :D
03 Jul at 3:23 am
I love this layout. The color scheme is so nice. It makes me happy just looking at it. As always, nice job on the design. You’re great. =)
03 Jul at 3:46 am
I love it. Pink is my favourite colour after blue. I actually think you should keep the green hovers, I like them!
03 Jul at 6:55 am
I’m loving the pink! And the green hover :P Reminds me of a watermelon. Damn. I’m hungry just thinking about it! Very proffesional, as always.
03 Jul at 7:52 am
You change your underwear once a month or so and you *still* have a boyfriend!? Someone wanna explain to me exactly what I’m doing wrong? This layout reminds me of flakies. I like flakies, they’re really good. But only the raspberry ones, everything else is pretty much just gross. I feel like a flakie right now…
03 Jul at 7:57 am
Your layout jumps off my screen, but in a good way. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone use pink in sudge a way, usually it’s very annoying. Great work.
03 Jul at 7:58 am
Isn’t it obvious that it’s early for me; I can’t even spell Such right! *blush*
03 Jul at 10:02 am
Finally a layout I can appreciate! Loving the pink.
03 Jul at 12:25 pm
Wooooow, this layout is so great Jem! I love it;-) By the way, I might suggest some tutorial about how to create those rollover buttons in order to work in all browsers…
03 Jul at 12:49 pm
Wow, another new layout. ._o I know how you feel. =( Minus the work (because I don’t work, sadly). You’ll get back on track eventually.
03 Jul at 1:07 pm
@Daniela – my tutorial on tutorialtastic *should* be cross-browser compatible :) You can find it here: http://tinyurl.com/gz5ke
03 Jul at 2:43 pm
Thanks:) I did not know there was already a tutorial on that;-)
03 Jul at 6:53 pm
I love this one. I wasn’t overly keen on the blue before, because it was a little too plain (says the simplicity lover). And I love the green hovers too because green and pink works great, yes?
03 Jul at 6:56 pm
Hmm… though, I think that the light pink border around the buttons of narigation make the buttons themself seem… blurry in the edges. I don’t know about that. The otherwise, I love it.
03 Jul at 7:25 pm
Oh, I meant ‘navigation.’ Stupid typo.
03 Jul at 7:43 pm
Ah, pink. And gray.
03 Jul at 7:45 pm
My comment got cut off. I suppose that shows that I should use < symbols thoughtlessly, even if it is just to make the L33t <3 I like the slight change from your usual navigation (top bar, etc.) and the upwards content area. I’m not sure if I like the actual banner itself, though. Something about it just bothers me. Green hover links for this combination is definitely interesting – they actually seem to fit against the white. The darker green of the navigation I don’t like as much. And I could just huggle your background stripes to death. Mwah.

Pink is such a nice colour for Web design!
04 Jul at 12:46 pm
LMAO @ your edit… *I* knew it was intentional :P
04 Jul at 3:43 pm
GIRLY BUBBLES! Very cute, I like!
04 Jul at 5:46 pm
I really like the layout, it’s very simple yet cute and feminine. Plus it’s pink, and pink is my favorite color. ;) You always have nice layouts.
04 Jul at 6:31 pm
Pretty In Pink :). It’s bubble-tastic Jem!
04 Jul at 8:59 pm
I really like this layout, it’s one of my favorites from you. It’s very ‘together’. I didn’t really like your previous layout(s), I’m not as into desaturated colors as I used to be.
04 Jul at 10:24 pm
Oh well I guess I’m te stupid one now, but oh wait, I think I always was.
05 Jul at 11:58 am
Just a quick bug I’ve found! I’m at school at the moment, and so I’m using a 800×600 screen and IE (neither by preference). On your free bellabook themes page, the navigation gets pushed below the content, meaning you have to scroll down for it. :)
07 Jul at 3:43 pm
The nerd in me comes out: you misspelled “Yeehaw.”
07 Jul at 4:38 pm
I love your layouts and this pink one is hot! :)
