A Request and Some Updates
Firstly, does anyone know if there is a way (or a program) to alter the mapping of keys on a Mac? I keep hitting ” for @ and vice versa and it’s incredibly frustrating when I’m coding all day and keep surrounding attributes with superfluous @.
Update: Instead of re-mapping the keys myself I managed to find an entry on using a British Windows keyboard layout. Great stuff!
Secondly, just a few updates: a new suggest a topic form in my scribblings section, quick and easy php mail form script with brief instructions, a new review of the site (4 stars out of 5) and for those who didn’t notice: a styleswitcher! (Switch in the weblog side panel.)
Edit: switched from the ALA JavaScript styleswitcher to my old PHP one. Tested it in IE, Firefox and Opera with no problems. If you see any layout issues please e-mail me with screenshots.

I noticed the styleswitcher but thought it might’ve been beta or something, haha.

Is the style switcher only supposted to work on the main page because when you go to other pages, it reverts to the default style?

I like the original style better, myself, but then I’m a sucker for drop shadows. Darn it! I’m working on a style switcher as well. Mine, though, is for color scheme where yours is more layout. I feel better, then. I love your site. I’m sure I’m going to be saying this in every comment I leave.

I like the default style, personally. And how do you keep hitting @ when you want “? Those two are totally separated on every keyboard I’ve seen.

Is it hard getting used to a Mac after you’ve only ever used Windows/PC? I really want to buy of them there Powerbook majiggers when I go back to school next year. But I am kind of intimidated…

Samantha: Because the @ on a mac is placed a totally different place than on normal keyboards.

DoubleCommand will let you remap all keys on your keyboard: http://macupdate.com/info.php/id/12004 http://doublecommand.sourceforge.net/ I use it to turn off my Caps Lock key (I never use it and always hit it by mistake), but it should also do the job for letting you switch @ and “. :) Although, when I first got a Mac it took me a while to get used to the different placements as well, but once I did, I found it was easy enough to switch between the Mac layout and the PC layout – I now hardly ever get it wrong because my brain kind of remembers which keyboard it’s on. Or something. :P

I’m in Opera on a Windows XP in a 1280×960 resolution. The “about the site” page is a bit off. The content area is moved to the left and the navigation is below it, correctly aligned horizontally. There is the same problem on “useful stuff” and a few other subpages.

The new layout is nice, but the styleswitcher only works when you’re using Firefox (not sure if Opera has the option) and you use the Page Style to change it (View > Page Style > B/Default). If you just use the links in the sidebar it’ll change when you navigate away from the main page. Okay I just checked and it refuses to stay put in Opera too (it does have the View > Page Style thing).

I am using Firefox and it works fine when I browse around the pages.. :/ Likewise with Opera. I’ll have to fiddle with it. It may be because of the way the cookie is set. If that doesn’t work I’ll go back to my old PHP styleswitcher. At least that worked. :p

The styleswitcher doesn’t work with me, either. Neither the links nor choosing via File menu. I’m using Firefox running on Windows XP.

I have the same problem as Veve, themeswitcher isn’t working, always on the default one (I’m on firefox/WinXP). The first version of themeswitcher you had a few days ago worked though.

For those having issues: clear out your cookies for jemjabella.co.uk and try selecting a theme again.

I didn’t clear my cookies, but for some reason it works now! :D

Hi, I’ve switched to your contact form because it was easier to use than the one that I had, thus, it was easier to keep everything valid. I was just wondering if you knew of a way to use drop down menus, or if I should forget that.

Bit of a glitch with the comments box. It’s currently sized off the page for me until I resize the window at which point it fits nicely on the page … until I start typing and off it goes again.
