A General ‘Me’ Update

I figured as the last two posts have been coding related I should probably do a bit of a general update so everybody knows how things are going. That, and my coding posts seem to confuse people..

The most annoying thing at the moment is that I still have my cold. I can’t seem to shake it off. I thought earlier this week it was gently fading away and then I wake up this morning (uh.. well.. afternoon, if I’m honest) with a stinking headache, an incredibly sore throat and non-stop snot. Please don’t tell me to get well soon, I think you guys are jinxing me! ;)

Talking of “jinx”ing things — I bought the j!nx.comNobody Reads My Blog t-shirt” because I thought it’d be ironically funny, y’know.. as everyone reads my blog. It arrived the other day and I wore it for the first time today, only to have some guy on the till at a local hardware (that’s drills and things, not PC hardware) tell me I should submit it to a search engine. I pointed out that I get thousands of visitors to my blog really, and he just looked at me. I then mentioned that I have a huge ego too, which made him laugh. I am too amusing.

I’ve got my CRB check back for work, which means I’m not a paedophile and I’m now allowed to walk around unsupervised. I might actually be able to have an explore now and find my way around, because I still don’t know one end of the building from the other.

I’ve also come to the conclusion that I like working part-time. It gives me more than enough money to support my crack buying t-shirts online habit and yet time to laugh and point at people online (I know, I need a new hobby).

Talking of online — I’ve been doing lots of scripts editing for people it seems. After discovering the issues with Enth I went looking through phpFanBase and discovered a whole crapload of issues. I’ve sent the modified file at the root of them problems to the people at CodeGrrl, but I am not sure when that’ll go online. I’ve been told the new version is hopefully being brought out today though. (If you’re running fanbase and want the fix in the mean time, e-mail me: jem@jemjabella.co.uk.)

I’m still working on getting theqbee.net online, I’ve been uploading articles for the Entertainment section of the Martini Lounge (I just have to stick the code in) and dealing with idiots. By idiots I mean spammers, whiners, and those that can’t read. By whiners I mean those who implement suggestions from my reviews that they do like and complain about those bits they don’t. And, by those that can’t read I mean people who can’t differentiate between one paragraph summing up my impression of a person caused by their own writing, and an entire review. It almost makes me want to say “lol”. No, I refuse to stoop that low.

Last, but not least, visit Amelie ’cause she plugged me about 2040903 times in one entry.

@Shaun – no! Hehe, I just provide techinical support for the owners :)

  3. LOL @ T-shirt. I want this one: http://www.thinkgeek.com/tshirts/science/6e7e/ And eh, I forgot about theqbee.net. x3 I think my absence from pixelling did it. Ah well, I hope you get better. :)

  4. Speaking of idiots, what ever happened to that girl that was going to talk to her lawyer about your review?

Paola – she said she had spoken to her husband and decided to drop it. I think that’s Internet speak for “I realised I’m talking out of my ass and can’t sue someone for something they haven’t done”.

  6. You didn’t link me as much as I linked you! That’s total tratorism! OH, I’M TELLING ON YOU!!! …*snigger* I’m in a silly mood. Immature stuff amuses me… I’m sure you know what I’m talking about ;)

  7. Oh. I didn’t know until I thought I remembered you being a member and you were also a maintainer at the community. :)

  8. Oh gosh. I want that T-shirt. Though, I don’t quite think I’ll get much of an intelligent reaction, seeing as the people at school are… hmm… “lol.” I’ve never really… got into the whole “qbee” thing, actually. But that’s awesome.

  9. This is kind of a weird thing to say, but this entry kept me very interested. It just felt well written and easy and nice. Random thought for the day. Don’t get well soon!

  10. Haha! That tee’s slogan is highly amusing! :P And oh, recently, I encountered a tee in a local store which read: I know H.T.M.L (How To meet Ladies) :P Just got to love them tees with theyr wacky geek slogans!

  11. You sound very busy, but in a good way. I’m glad the holiday went well and that you’re back beavering around. The tee-shirt also sounds cool…

  12. Lmfao that shirt is great. People in my school would see it and say “OMG I can sooo help you with HTML because I’m really good at it! I know the marquee AND image tags!” Seriously, they all think they’re geniuses because they can change their font size when they leave me myspace comments.

  13. Please don’t tell me to get well soon, I think you guys are jinxing me! ;) Get sick. Please. ;) I’ve got my CRB check back for work, which means I’m not a paedophile and I’m now allowed to walk around unsupervised. If you were a paedophile, you’d have tried to kidnap me at least once already, although I live across the Atlantic. Lmfao that shirt is great. People in my school would see it and say “OMG I can sooo help you with HTML because I’m really good at it! I know the marquee AND image tags!” Seriously, they all think they’re geniuses because they can change their font size when they leave me myspace comments. Tell me about it. I redid some kid’s site for $20 a few years ago and then he learned basic HTML so he could update it, and now he goes around acting like he’s A-MAZING at it. And Geocities pagebuilder? Half the kids that “make websites” around here use drag-and-drop pageguilders and think they’re great. Bleh. Stupid people. It almost makes me want to say “lol”. No, I refuse to stoop that low. You’re so mature. :P

  14. It’s all good. It seems everyone has a lot going on in their lives right now while I have nothing. haha, unless evil exams that try to boggle my brain count! The t-shirt is cool.. if I wore it my friends would think I was sad, or just completely not understand the joke.

  15. The QBee… hm. I had fun while I was there, but I don’t think I want to join for a third time.

  16. I want one of those T-Shirts :) Hm… maybe someone told you “break a leg”, and he/she meant it literally… well sort of :P By the way, do you behave like me, and wear short and short sleeved shirts? Because if yes, then that won’t help your matter (unless of course there are at least 25 celsius degrees). Maybe dressing warmer will help? That CRB check took that long? I needed one too to help ‘work’ for grandma, but they gave it the same day. And I was firmly convinced that our bureaucracy is the worst anyone ould ever concieve. And don’t mind the whiners. I ALWAYS have a reason for not having something the way the reviewer likes, but in the end I decide to implement 99% of it (as they DO have a point). So basically we’re all hypocrites. By the way, I don’t get why people got so teribly upset about your review of blueberriez, when the previous reviews were quite a bit harsher. The one for that tutorial site (forgot the name) was THOUSAND TIMES worse…

  17. “By the way, I don’t get why people got so teribly upset about your review of blueberriez, when the previous reviews were quite a bit harsher. The one for that tutorial site (forgot the name) was THOUSAND TIMES worse…” LOL! How comforting.

  18. … and they didn’t make such a big fuss of it, was supposed to be the continuation. But I’m lazy.
