Remember The Snowman?
Remember when I saw a flashing Snowman in August? Well, I went in to Shrewsbury again with Karl at the weekend and couldn’t see it at all. I think they’ve got their a bit seasons mixed up. Oh, did I mention that my next-door neighbours put their tree up in the middle of November? That’s not normal. Well, unless you’re American, I guess.
My toncils are swollen up.. and I think I’ve a cold coming on. Just what I needed.

There’s nothing wrong with putting your tree up in mid-November. Us Aussie folks do it all the time over here. And, of course, the shopping malls have all the decorations up a month or so too early.

Americans don’t normally put their tree up in the middle of November, o_O It’s traditionally the weekend after Thanksgiving or the first weekend in December. Crazy Brits and your American stereotypes ;)

we put our tree up this past sunday. I like to wait til mid December otherwise I get sick of it, and boxing day, it all comes down.

My family used to put our tree up after Thansgiving dinner. It was tradition. But now that I have my own family we have decided to wait until the first or second week of December. My husband is a last minute kind of person. If it were up to me the tree would have been up after Thanksgiving dinner.

A lot of people trees go up December 1st. We leave ours up until after New Years. Except, well, this year it’s a ‘lil decorated potted spruce tree, so it’s up ’til spring when we plant it… Blame the flashing snowman on the Sears WishBook I say. The thing comes in August now, geez.

I remember going into Charlies Stores in Shrewsbury at the begining of October and seeing a whole load of Christmas stuff, including a life-size Santa Homer Simpson! And then all on 1 shelf was the Halloween stuff. It didn’t feel right!

Thank you for the wonderful comment at my site. ;) We usually put our tree up sometime after Thanksgiving. We are late this year. ;) Been working too much. I love the wintery layout. Beautiful job.

I’ve got a neighbor who has Christmas decorations up – and still has a couple of pumpkins in one corner of the yard. :-) Our family stopped focusing on the presents a while back – we still give them, but the larger enjoyment is seeing one another and eating lots of good food.

Wow – I’m amazed by how early people on this thread put their trees up. In our family, when I was growing up, the tree was always decorated on Christmas Eve.

how can you tell when your tonsils are swollen up? I’ve never really paid attention! Sometimes when I swallow it feels like there’s something stuck in my throat for weeks and weeks, and I keep trying to swallow it down but can’t. Is that what it is? Or am I fully offtrack?

Hey! We didn’t put our tree up until the end of November! ;) Only the crazy Americans put their Christmas decorations up before Thanksgiving. I hope you’re feeling better soon, Jem. Sore tonsils are no fun!

Did you take away the skins? o.O ‘Cause I’m on IE (@ school on Windows) and they were there yesterday but not anymore…

No, I *just this second* moved them. You can still change the theme on the domain page or sitemap. Oh, and there’s a new one. :)

LOL! I hadn’t seen your flashing snowman entry originally; at first I thought you were gonna say that they had a snowman with erm, extra appendages! :o

LOL yeah, if you’re American you’re supposed to apparently put up your tree the day after Halloween. At least that’s what the media and stores are telling us these days. Me, I’m not putting up a tree at all this year, so there. :P

I must be very un-American then…I wait as long as I possibly can to put my tree up and then I like to get it back down as soon as possible. Don’t get me wrong, I like Christmas and Christmas trees…it’s just such a hassle! :P

… eh maybe they’ve only recently taken it down… and now when they should really have one: “UGH! I just took it down!” Hopefull you’re not coming down with a flu. Aren’t there any shots/medicine you could take?

Perhaps the person was reading his calendar backwards. *Sniggers* Or he/she probably wanted to be “different”? :P

Hah, yeah…it’s ridiculous when people put up Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving has even passed. But I’m told that in retail, you’re supposed to just skip Thanksgiving and go straight to Christmas…so maybe one of your next-door neighbors works in retail and was in that mindset? ;p I hope you’re better by now. I’ve been sick for a few days now, and it’s just been miserable.

I’ve had a cold for the past few days. ;_; We usually put up our tree somewhere around 1st December but this year, no tree yet. We’ll probably put it up this weekend or next. Who knows. Not like I care. I don’t really like the whole festive spirit thing.

fao Nikki Ann Regarding Charlies Stores. I was the manager of the store at the time of your visit, glad you liked Homer! Although we lent him to a local school who broke his arms!
