CSS Reboot

I’ve decided to take part in the Autumn CSS Reboot — I was going to do it in May but didn’t really get chance. Anyway, I’m taking it one step further: not just rebooting my CSS but rebooting everything.

I’m shifting back to WordPress. Sort of. When I created my own feed I cocked parts of it up and couldn’t be bothered to fix it (if it works, I don’t break it.) I’m getting rid of a few of my opinions/rants because they’re pretty much unsupported by evidence/etc. I’ll be using the site as a portal pretty much for everything: posting reviews and tutorials here as well as at the main sites (increase publicity, whoo.)

Anyway, all of that is irrelevant. I just want to know your opinions on colours. Should I be daring and go for a colour scheme I’ve not done before (if so, give me ideas) or should I go back to my roots and do some crazy blue madness? Either way, the design will be up from November until New Year so don’t go telling me to use lime green or something wacky. :P

  1. weird and wonderful! weird and wonderfulllll :D but lime green is not necessary :P

  2. woo, an entry from the future! I was thinking about doing the reboot (for my blog, again), but I’m not sure if I can be bothered to totally redo everything again. hmm, colours. I think I’d quite like to see a darker colour scheme, as you tend to stick to lighter pastelly shades. Plus it’ll be winter and all that. I’m sure whatever you come up with will look fab though :)

^ My dates are cocked up. Another reason to go back to WordPress. I cannot be arsed to debug everything, heh.

  4. Go for daring. I’d do rich reds and greens – great fall colors… I think you could do something really cool and bold with that.

  5. O_o;; teh spamz0rz…… Debugging is fun. Well, not really. But it does kill much time… Colours, colours…colours are scary. At least to me. But go for something daring and bright!

  6. Try taking a look at http://www.colourlovers.com/ for some help with colours… I find the pallette section particularly useful :)

  7. The blue should be fun XD. I mean afterall, it’s you, and whatnot. Just don’t go overboard with it. And poo, I was going to use a color close to lime green with my new theme…hrrrm…but a revamp should be fun. I wish I could participate, but why is it that I have to cram for my final finals, (as opposed to my yearly exams) that first week of November? Btw, just wanted to let you know that despite my ‘busyness’ this break, I’m still doing reviews.

  8. I say go with whatever colour scheme *you* would enjoy looking at the most. =)

  9. Lime green… you know you love it really ;) I would go for something you haven’t done before. You’d be surprised, trying something new can completely change your way of thinking… Instead of blue, try purple. I’ve not seen too many sites done in purple, but there are lots of different shades that can really work well together, in my opinion.

  10. You know what I think would be nice for these seasons? A nice light grey and white scheme with maybe one bright stand-outish color. Maybe orange or red.

  11. Why not be bold and daring and go with a color scheme you’ve never used before?? I absolutely adore this site for choosing colors http://www.colourlovers.com maybe it will help you out!!

  12. … and I’ve wanted to start reading that darn PHP manual for 1 month now , but don’t worry. I’m just hopeless like that. But I agree with your idea: “if it works, why break it?” Colours? Well, I’m really don’t like all this yellow you have employed here, but I guess that’s just a personal preference. Personally, I found your previous layout (I’m refering to the time you had your blog on a subdomain) ‘daring’. I rather disliked it, but hey: there’s much more to you than your layout. Actually, I rarely care about your layout when I wish to visit you. Hmm blue? Why not? Don’t ask me about color schemes. It takes me ages to find my own…
