After I had Isabel I had my shoulder-length hair chopped off. I think it’s a new mum right of passage or something. I loved it. Loved the fact that it took minutes to dry, that I only needed a teensy blob of shampoo, it didn’t get in my eyes etc. Karl wasn’t so taken but, since I’ve never paid any attention to him anyway, I ignored the moaning ;)
However, I soon discovered that short hair grows. (You can call me Captain Obvious if you like.) I was getting frustrated with it after 4 weeks and having it all chopped off again every 6. This ends up being quite pricey if you use a proper hairdresser. So… I decided I’d grow it out again. Except I currently look like this*:

* not actually me
My hair is in my eyes constantly, it’s irritating the back of my neck and I am fed up of looking like I just crawled out of the 80s. I’m at the point where I just want to get the clippers and shave the bloody lot off (well, maybe not) … I don’t know if I’ve got the patience to see through this horrific “growing out” period. So what do I do? Any decision is ‘complicated’ by the fact that I don’t use products (gels, sprays etc) nor straighteners/hair drier etc. I need a ‘style’ that requires no effort or attention whatsoever; I want to be able to wash my hair, brush it through and have it look like I actually give a crap (without actually giving said crap).
I know, I don’t want much.
My name is Jem, & I once told the world I'd never become a "mommy blogger" ... then I had a baby. Now I talk about boobs and poo and other inane mummy stuff.
