I just wanted to send out some e-thanks to a few people who’ve helped me remove some of the false exploit “warnings” over the course of the past couple of weeks..
Firstly, Fyodor of insecure.org/seclists.org who removed one of the listings from his websites. Mega thanks to str0ke of milw0rm fame (seriously, I’ve been using that website for years) who gave me support, offered his help in getting listings removed, and was one of the first three that doubted the fake reports in the first place. Thanks also to Todd of packet storm who removed both false listings within hours of receiving my e-mail.
SecurityFocus told me:
It is not trivial to do so but we’re going to remove the message from the Bugtraq archive on SecurityFocus.com and the BID.
…but both BellaBiblio and BellaBook are still listed so that’s my ongoing concern right now. Can’t have it all I guess.
Although I’d already thanked these guys via e-mail I just wanted to make it known how helpful they were — I don’t think it’s possible to be too grateful when the big guys help out the little people (me!)
