Bored with the utter tripe on TV on New Years Eve I finally got off my lazy arse and decided to do something with BellaBook before I completely forgot how to code and integrate flat files and before it withered away into a pile of pants php poop. Say that 3 times fast I dares ya!

So, semi-drunken moments aside where I spent 3 hours trying to figure out why something wasn’t working and ended up being solved with a single line of code; I finally think I’m getting somewhere. I’ve had some trusty pals doing some bug testing and.. fingers crossed, touch wood.. I think I’m done. Well, maybe I’m speaking too soon, but BB3.1 is certainly ready for release.

I have 33 messages in my trash can from the past 2-3 days alone, all from Amelie with contents along the lines of:

Eep, I had a little play around and added all sorts of things into the sign form… And it sort of messed up again.

Sort of messed up? Pfft. She killed it! ;) No, I kid. But seriously, I just want to air a public thanks to those who did help me with the testing (Amelie included) because without them I’d have given up and gone to bed crying already. I have included helpers in the credits ‘section’ of the readme.txt which will be included in every download. Yar!

Just because you’re all anxious and excited and everything (yes you are, don’t frickin’ lie to me) I have composed a brief list of new features in BellaBook3.1. w00t. Here goes:

  1. Bad word blocking
  2. IP blocking
  3. Edit/delete entry now inside control panel
  4. Flood control
  5. Optional e-mail address display
  6. Optional required fields
  7. Multiple built-in themes
  8. New, more secure login scripting
  9. Ability to stay logged in to control panel
  10. “Space out” big words to retain layout shape

If anyone has any last minute feature requests or ideas, say so now before it’s projected release date of Friday. If any fellow developers (no, using php includes doesn’t make you a developer, you boob) want to give it a look-over and test run before Friday, I’d be more than happy to share and stuff :)
