I’ve had a potentially absurd idea. I can’t remember what inspired it, but I’m pretty sure that I’m going to go ahead with it. I’ve decided that if I’m going to “fix” whatever is wrong with my mental health at the moment, that the best way to start is with a completely clean slate. By… read full entry »
I don’t often blog about my experiences eating out, but there are times when I’m so surprised (either positively or otherwise) by what I’m eating I can’t help but give it a mention. This is one of those times. I have recently had the pleasure of dining — twice, in fact — with Gaz at… read full entry »
I failed another Sugar-Free September. It’s not my fault, honest. The biscuit spread leapt out of the jar into my mouth. The jelly beans tempted me with their sweet, sweet goodness. The cocktails proved too much for my willpower. Oh well, maybe next year :/
Gaz asked me the other night “so you’ve had no sugar AT ALL this week?” And I said “well yes, I’ve had a banana, and they contain fructose” And after some further discussion he went on to ask with a raised eyebrow, “who made up these rules anyway?” Well, I did. Day 1 of 30, and what a shitty day to start. The end of the summer holidays, which means no more week nights with Gaz; the return to the monotony of the nursery run routine (although with the unhelpful addition of a school run from Wednesday — can’t believe Isabel starts school this week!); and,… read full entry »
In July, I had a whinge at a friend of mine via Facebook about how I was putting a shit ton of work into this fitness lark and seeing no obvious returns and then blogged my frustration too. I was beginning to feel demotivated and was ready to give up. Two things were said to… read full entry »
So, yep, I failed my Sugar Free September challenge. After surviving the weekend before last when a dicky tum meant I was struggling to stay hydrated and thought I’d have to give up, I only went and ate a jaffa cake on Saturday by accident. I see your raised eyebrow – but it was totally… read full entry »
After nearly messing up on day 1 when we got stuck out longer than anticipated and had to buy lunch supplies to eat on the go (when I discovered just in time that even plain roast chicken in a packet contains added sugar! Shame on you Tesco) I have now been officially sugar free for… read full entry »
So. Having delayed and delayed since the post at the beginning of the year when I promised myself I’d go one month sugar free, I’ve finally committed myself to a month of sugar free: September. My rules are as follows: No sugar (white/brown) in coffee, cake, bread, no pastries, cereals or sauces sweetened with sugar,… read full entry »
As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I bought a bigger slow cooker to try and frugalise (is that a word?) some of the meals I’m used to making by reducing the fuel cost to cook them. Having made a few ‘easy’ meals with success I spotted some bargain pork this weekend in the Co-op… read full entry »
