I’m so proud, I finally get to see one of the bright, pretty Jemjabella layouts myself. I first became an avid visitor when you began the dark colored theme then moved to black. It’s a nice change!
WTF. At first I thought you lost your domain completely and got redirected to shit like this = http://chanelcheeks.com/index.asp LOL. But yeah, I’m sure the header will look great. I was really feeling the last layout though. Dark & mysterious.
Oh… Jem… At first I thought that I’ve written wrong url in my firefox, but then I noticed – it’s “new Jem” ;) Simplicity as usual but so stunning – can’t wait to see header image :)
I’m probably the only one who thinks this, but I think it’s a bit cluttered at the top due to lack of spacing between the text and lack of variation in font type and size. And then it’s so wide, so it’s a lot of text in a lot of space… I don’t know, it’s just a bit much for me. Perhaps if you do add a header image or something else that added a bit of variation and a bit less uniformity (which is good, but to an extent), it would make me feel better. That isn’t to say it looks bad, because it doesn’t at all, it is, as many have said, very Jem, but I have a question: what happened to branding? ;)
@Stephanie: I haven’t finished yet so little bits here and there will be changing but I do agree about the cluttered-ness at the top. I was going to try making the sidebar text lighter and the content text darker to give a bit of contrast, you’ll have to take a look at it afterwards and let me know what you think. (The new jemjabella.co.uk circles will be in the header image – the rotating taglines are temporary.) @Sonya: please refrain from *telling* me what to do, it is irritating.
I like the quotes in the header part, but you could’ve had your site title there too. The color choice is good too, but all in all it’s too geeky-looking for me (I’m a fine one to talk since I’m rather geeky myself…).
You know it’s sad when you can differentiate various fonts that and what kind of settings they’ve got without having to view source. Needless to say I’m a softie for Verdana 11px, with a line height of about 15’ish pixels. *hides* Love the simplicity, but I think I got so used to the grey tones with pink/smudgy yellow, that I don’t feel like I’m at your site. ;x
I hate you. Yesterday, you had me spend 2 minutes just clicking randomly on your navigation to see your tagline change. And then I stepped (again) on the bloody power bar, causing my computer to reboot…and then the fan stopped working. I’ll blame you.
I have to say, I’m not a fan jem. Scared the jesus out of me at first. Looks like one of those “Hahahaha we have your domain and you cant have it” Pages. :(
