I wrote a tutorial on adding a captcha into BellaBook3.2 this evening, so if you’re using it and are one of the unfortunate few (hah) plagued by spam, you might want a take a look. I’ve implemented it into my BellaBook theme demo guestlog, so if you want to test it by adding a message — go ahead.
Please let me know if you have any problems with it.

Nice! I like the mauve colors. Can robots get around captchas?

I’ve been messing about with PHP, because it’s something that I’d really like to learn. I’ve got a few ideas for scripts, it’s just a matter of learning the necessities so that I can make a script. Who knows how long that will take though lol I’ve been having major spam problems with my Bellabook, so thanks for the captcha tutorial. Most of the time the only thing in the comments box is things like, “good job!”. The captcha should probably take care of things :)

About your BellaBook. There’s this annoying ‘bug,’ shall you say? It’s not really anything, but it’s really annoying to me. When I press enter twice, I’d expect that the message would do the same. And have two paragraphs. But the message merges together into one paragraph. Should it really do that? If you already know this, then sorry for bothering you. :-/

I recently had seven entries of spam written in Polish in my BB, so I implemented the captcha straightaway and so far it’s been problem-free :) Thanks for the captcha, Jem!

@Shannon: I’m not Jem, but I’ll answer anyway :P Yeah, BB is supposed to do that. Apparently putting the code to make paragraphs into the script causes the admin panel to break… Not something I’ve noticed personally, and I put said code into my versions. I can show you how I did it if you (and Jem!) would like. :)

The captcha is working perfectly! :) It’s like magic, I was getting spam entries every 5 minutes or so, but I’ve got a single one since I put the captcha in there. Thanks :D

I used to have a lot of spam until I installed the latest version, that allows comments to need being approved before appearing. Since then, I don’t even receive spam as pending entries. The main problem recently was, as two people said above, that the spam either said “nice site” or something similar, but the person’s URL was obviously spam, or the comment was in a foreign language so I had no idea what it could mean.

Ah. Okay. But I like the Captcha thing. It’s interesting. (Goes to read the tutorial.)

Oh, it’s BLUE!
23 Jun at 11:59 pm
It’s a nice blue.
24 Jun at 3:20 am
Just a note to say I love the blue. :)
24 Jun at 4:20 am
I REALLY like the new color scheme! Blue is one of my favorite colors. =)
24 Jun at 9:24 am
Nice blue, but I liked the brown and green more :)
24 Jun at 9:42 am
ooh blue :) I like them both but this color scheme is a little bit easier on the (well, my) eyes.

I love the blue (better than the past one, actually). At first, though, I had to refresh because I was still seeing the past image on top and it looked rather ugly.

Got to say I LOVE the blue…the brown and green seemed a good idea in theory, but I don’t know if it was just my monitor, but the shades chosen seemed to clash IMVHO…the airforce blue rocks :)

Woah! Awesome! I wish there was a captcha for wordpress -.-; I get SO much spam…
26 Jun at 7:05 pm
That’s so neat :) I’ve always wondered how people did that. I can’t wait to implement it!
