Feeling Rusty

For years I’ve wanted to turn my blog into a “tumble log” thing where I have different styles for different post types, and can share more of the crap I do/come across without writing a full blog entry. I started writing it, amongst other things, in my old blog. After various personal/health issues and a conversion to habari I put it on the back burner… but now I’m getting itchy fingers again.

So, cue me exploring the documentation for creating a habari content type. And now I’m sat here, gob open, begging for PHP refreshers in #habari because everything looks like code soup.

I am seriously rusty at this shit. Where’s Mat when I need him?

  1. I was talking about wanting to do that too. In the end, I just created http://tumblr.dreamling.ca, and integrated the design over there. Now I can tumble stuff all I want, without distracting from my main blog. Maybe when I have time to re-vamp my entire site (i.e. over summer vacation), I will integrate it fully, but for now it’s a good way to see exactly how much I actually USE it before trying to make it a permanent feature.

  2. I feel your pain. 3 years of Ruby and next to nothing in PHP and I’m back to square 1 with it all :(

  3. I’ve always just posted whatever to my blog.. it’s really random and I like it that way. I don’t have very many long posts but that’s ok. I’m really interested in seeing something like this as well – maybe a way to set icons for different post types would be something to bring over from Tumblr into this kind of Habari setup, but also mobile publishing would be a must.

  4. I am here.

If you need me for anything just email me. Easier than way.
Otherwise we’ll organise some IRC soon :D

    Take care.

  5. If you feel like some practise you can help me with my php quandry!! *le sigh*

I hate logic lol, its not my thing!

  6. I know how to do the lifestream type blog in WordPress, but not in anything else. Good thing I’m not a developer, cause I would suck :p

  7. I’m so rusty with Flash… And I need to make a game this year. :(

  8. I’ve been focusing on so much on Flash and ActionScript for the past 3 years I can barely remember how to program in any other language. The thought of trying to make any other web thingy seems rather daunting right now…
