400 Readers

Feedburner tells me my subscriber count hit over 400 as of today. I feel like I should post something inspirational or deep the mark the occasion but as I’m not a particularly inspirational or deep person I’ll leave you with a question or three.

If you’re contributing to my subscriber count by adding my RSS feed to your feed reader/Firefox bookmarks, is there a particular reason why? Do you have a favourite topic or do you read all of my crap? Is there something you’d like to see more of? Just being nosy :)

  1. Well… I like to read ALL of your so called “crap”! :P

  2. Congratulations on reaching 403 readers. Of course, there may be more people who subscribe but don’t use feedburner (if that’s possible?). Alas, I’m not one of them. I don’t subscribe to anyone’s feeds – I prefer reading blog entries in the location they were orginally written – on your site.

  3. I have everything in a feedreader, cos it means I can be lazy and only check sites when I know they’ve been updated. Or some such logic anyway…

  4. Oh, any and all interesting blogs go in the feedreader. However, your was probably in that first batch I subscribed to, back when I discovered the magic of RSS. Why? I think the first post I read of yours was a pants award… and I love sarcasm. I’ve been hooked ever since.

  5. I’ve mainly just been a lurker, interested in your web related posts that appear every now and again. Congratulations as well, I hope to hit that number some day.

  6. I have it in my feedreader because I’m too lazy to check sites manually for updates.

  7. I might not comment all the time, but I do read all of it!

  8. Because your crap is just too entertaining:-) I have all my favourite blogs in a feedreader in order not to miss any post:-)

  9. I recently discovered the ease of RSS :P Now I don’t have to actually surf to your site, only to see that you haven’t posted anything new yet :) And yes, I read all of your articles, though I only comment when I can contribute something usefull ;)

  10. Well, you were the first one that I added to my RSS reader, so yes, I read all of your posts … OMG, that sounded like I’m stalking you. Probably because I am. =P

  11. I like to read all your “crap”, Jem. You write well and about things that are interesting. In fact, even if the subject isn’t the most interesting in the world, you still make it sound like it is, so there you go. I’ve also learnt a lot from your articles and blog, so thank you for that :)

  12. I don’t subscribe to any feeds either. I don’t really see the point in doing so. I just visit daily. :)

  13. I dont use feedburner but I read all of your crap :)

You lot are too kind :3 I am only asking so I know which posts to make more of, so if any of you have a specific favourite topic please say!

  15. I read all of it :p! It’s all entertaining and/or informative etc.

  16. I guess I read all of your crap even if I don’t understand some of it ;)

  17. I read all of your crap. I really like your pants posts but also really enjoy your posts that explain things (that HTML vs. XHTML was particularly great) and teach a little. And, of course, pictures of Hex are always nice. :)

  18. Old skool LJ crew reader lolz!1 ;) :p

  19. I’ve been reading your blog for a long time now (I’m the Sydney from tehsheriff.org, just with a new website/email) and I recently subscribed to your feed because it’s the first time I really got into it. So I put all the blogs on my blogroll into my reader and voila.

  20. I stalk your updates via Update Scanner for Firefox. I never liked RSS.

  21. I read by RSS (Akregator rocks, imo!). I just like reading what you have to say.

  22. I read pretty much every post. I love techy stuff and I love Hex.

  23. I visit through my bookmarks/link on my site, but I read to read it all.

  24. All of it is interesting. To me nothing is more better then the other. It’s better to read random blogs then a specific theme, if you get what I mean? XD

  25. I read all your crap. But I particularly like the ones where you’re ranting/warning about something. They’re logical and interesting in a way that most other bloggers are not. Because most other bloggers (like me) just make some rants seem outright bratty. By the way, ever since I’ve switched to a wide-screen laptop, I’ve noticed that the top border of the comment box isn’t long enough.

  26. I had it on my feed reader, but I just check manually instead, because your site isn’t slow on my computer. Only the slow sites are on my feed reader, because I just don’t want to waste that much time. I don’t have a favorite or least favorite. But…I love your posts on coding and whatnot. I love learning about web stuff (however, if you post about Biology/Geometry/Calculus/etc., I might actually have to send you an e-slap…*shudders*) Jeez, I haven’t commented fully in a while! Was it more entertaining without me? :P

  27. I read everything! And I’m subscribed, even though I visit your site pretty much everyday before I check Google Reader anyways :P I like all kinds of posts… however, your Pants Awards are always great and unique!

  28. Well, I read all your posts, but I have to admit I look forward to your helpful hints, so-called tuts, or hints you pass. Of course the big one is when you release the scripts. But I really do enjoy all your posts, Jem. You always give me ideas for my blog or inspiration for something to talk about with my mother (we have a hoot sometimes with some of your posts and commenter’s comments). At the moment though I am falling in love with Hex though. I am a subscriber just to find out when you post cause I hate waiting for the RSS feed to load in my Thunderbird when the page loads faster on my Firefox so I just load the page and read it here.

  29. how about more of pants awards? hehe kidding, I’m interested in your thoughts on programming mostly but I like your random posts as well :)

  30. While I’ve become more expectant of the more geek-centric posts from you (PHP, SEO, Internet and the lot), I don’t mind reading a bit of everything now and then. I usually skim over the more personal ones.

  31. I just read because I have to or Jem threatens to beat me hehe. Nah only kidding, I’m your number 1 fan Jem :o)

  32. ditto Amelie.

  33. Well I read what comes in my feedreader but mostly I’m interested of computer/web/coding related entries.

  34. Your blog entries and articles are all too persuasive and moving. I can’t help but read for entertainment :) Plus, the way your manipulation Hex’s pose can lighten up anyone’s day. I particular take to to the witch’s brew.

  35. I like all your posts. They’re entertaining and “intellectual”, I should say. Congratulations for the 400 mark! :)

  36. Ciao, I appreciate the time and effort you put into your site. It isn’t that you have one topic that is “most interesting.” I think it is the way you create in your writings. I find them well written and well researched, to the point and very informative!

  37. I worship you, duh.

  38. Because I’ve been stalking you since the LJ times/dark-ages-of-which-we-do-not-speak era and have no real reason to stop now. Just because I don’t comment so often doesn’t mean I don’t care ;) haha

  39. Congrats on the 400. When I came on here earlier (with the old layout) it said 403 subscribers. Now it seems to say 388 which is really weird. At home I use firefox tool bar feed so I have your feed added there, but at work I use google reader so I have subscribed twice to your blog.

  40. I read all of your stuff ;)

  41. Mostly interested in programming part, but lately I think Hex is in the top as well. Btw: your layout sort of breaks when using ctrl++ for zooming, which I often do. Maybe it’s just me.

  42. I’m not using a feed reader, I check your site now and then and read all of your posts.. though I *think* I prefer to read posts that are related to computer geeky stuff. ;D

  43. I read all of your “crap” but I especially enjoy your rants and pants awards. Keep up the awesome work!

  44. I’ve been a regular reader for a long while now, and yes, I do read it all. Your posts != crap, yo. Anything is interesting to me, really. :)

  45. Hi, My browser is firefox and I use googlereader for all my rss. I love to read blogs and my bookmarks is out of control so this helps me to remember all the stuff I like to read but overlook at times. I just like to read whatever you post. I think it is interesting that you talk about everything. I particularly like an old article or post you made about internet begging. It made me laugh, because I give handouts to people who need it on the streets all the time. Someone on the internet asked for money from me, and I was kind of taken back because they obviously can’t be like the homeless I meet on the streets. Cheers!
