My Favourite Pizza

Aisling pondered pizza in her latest entry, listing her favourite toppings, crust, etc. Not wanting to ruin the chance to advise you all on my favourite pizza — should we ever meet and you feel tempted to buy me something to eat — I have decided to blog on the subject too.

Firstly, it has to be thin crust. I don’t mind thicker crust pizzas, but they’re very rarely done right… too dry, or too oily. At least if it’s thin base, and they get it wrong, you have less of it to eat. I’ve never tried stuffed crust, but it is on my todo list for this year.

When I make my own pizza, I mix tomato and garlic purée to form the ‘sauce’. This is not a necessity, but is a nice touch.

Cheese… well, the more the better. Seriously, an entire block of cheese please. Even better would be a four-cheese mix. I love those multi-cheese frozen pizzas you can buy, because they’re the bees knees. I’m easy on cheese type, but it has to have at least some strong cheddar. Melted cheese is the only cheese I like really, so make it worth the effort.

Toppings are when I really get to play. I like LOADS of toppings (as if 3 inches of cheese wasn’t bad enough). Bacon, mushrooms, onion, sweetcorn, pineapple, chicken or other meats, any veg just pile it all on. I like extra mushrooms if I can get ’em. Sometimes, when I’m feeling greedy, I sprinkle a thin layer of grated cheese over all of those toppings too.

Mmmm. :9

  1. Did you seriously say "bees knees"? I love those multi-cheese frozen pizzas, too. They always have 5 or 6 different cheeses here :D

I prefer toppings under all the cheese!

  2. Haha, Jem. I love you. :P

That sounds like an excellent pizza. Yum yum.

  3. Yay, finally someone else who likes mushrooms! Whenever I order pizza with my friends or family, I’m always like, "Extra mushrooms!!" and they’re all like, "Umm….eww!!".

    They’re good!

  4. Sweet corn, eh? Never had that on a pizza but it sure does sound good. I think you have a really good point about the thin crust being less to eat if they mess up.. I never thought about it that way! :o

  5. We would definitely be perfect pizza-mates! I *love* the idea that more toppings means better pizza. I’ll take pepperoni, sausage, bacon, black olives, mushrooms, green peppers, and red onions on my pizza plz!

  6. Meat, meat and more meat. With lots and lots of cheese. And maybe garlic. Yum. None of this vegetabley nonsense.

Stuffed crust is yummy too, but only if it’s still warm (and melted)… gets a bit chewy if it cools down too much

  7. Yes, another extra mushrooms fan!

  8. Sounds super yummy, although I have to be honest and say I’m one of "those" people who always demands no mushrooms *hides*

Any who, i whole heatedly agree with you on thin crust. For toppings, I like certain things below the cheese and some things above it. I also like to mix up the sauce now and then. ^^! A little smokey BBQ sauce for a Hawaiian-ish pizza is pretty tasty.

If you ever mosey over to Canada, pizza is on me :)

  9. Yum, my kind of pizza too, but where is the chicken and coriander? Keep an eye on those mushrooms Jem, too many purines can be bad for you.

  10. I love mushrooms on pizza! And any vegetables really, the only things I don’t like on my pizza are sardines and olives.
You have good taste in pizza. :P

  11. Just thin crust, tomato, garlic, cheese and pineapple for me! I don’t like much else on a pizza, actually to be honest I’m not that into pizzas but they are nice once in a while. Especially while I’m at work and have a long night ahead of me (and my colleagues just love the smell of pizza then -not-)

  12. I’m not picky about the crust, but I completely agree with you about the cheese. The more cheese, the better! I’m not a huge fan of pizza sauce, but if there’s a bit of a garlic kick, it tastes better as I looove garlic!

  13. If you like cheese you’ll definitely like the stuffed crust pizza. You don’t know bees knees ’til you’ve tried stuffed crust pizza.

  14. Mmmm, pizza. I like just a regular crust (or stuffed!) and pepperoni, sausage, green peppers, mushrooms, black olives… yum yum.
