RollerCoaster Tycoon 1

 |  Geek

I had forgotten how ace RollerCoaster Tycoon 1 is. There is only one thing better than creating a new rollercoaster that is an immediate success in terms of excitement — creating a new rollercoaster that brings in large quantities of cash and has that key ‘passing point’ where two trains look like they’re going to run into one another…

rct 1

It’s been a long time since I offered RCT stuff through my website, but it is something I may consider doing again (via ‘Stuff‘). Let me know if you play, and you’re interested… there’s no point adding it for nothing.

I play RCT1 from time to time, I’ve never been bothered to get RCT2. :P I’d be interested in seeing some stuff for it on here.

I never played RCT. Well, I have, but I played with my brother, and it’s been a long time. We would strategize together and make buckets of money. That is, until he got bored and started dropping people into holes or water or holes with water in them (“don’t these idiots know how to swim?!!”); then I would get mad and leave ;) Sibling togetherness, eh? In Safari, your footer doesn’t extend all the way to the right edge of the content area. The nav works, just not the footer. Odd. :/

DUDE am I the only one to notice the style override? *plays with* I know Katy (ex: cathode-ray-coma) noticed already ;) She complained because the h2s don’t look right in the themes. Pfft, it’s only in beta you know!

I play RCT1 every so often. I’d love it if you put some stuff up for it. I can never find anything for the first one. I love getting visitors lost or killing them. xD

psssh no – the only thing better than a new rollercoaster is a new rollercoaster built especially to crash in a huge and explosive way :D

I have played RCT1 once, I think. It was a while ago. I’m not sure when. I noticed the style override, also. Pink was…bright. However, I like the blue and red best.

I love RCT1, but I don’t understand by “It’s been a long time since I offered RCT stuff through my website,…” I bought all of the land that was for sale and I’ve come to the point that I cannot make anymore rides. It’s fun and exhilarating to have all of that money and power.

I have never played RCT, but have always wanted to play. I am though addicted to Caesar III, which is the same concept on building something, but with the Roman empire. I think I never got the game because I had worked at Cedar Point Amusement park in the past… kind of burnt me out. Might take a little while longer until I finally buy it. If you know a place that has a good deal on the game, I would love to know.

I remember RCT1, my friends are still addicted to it whenever they come over. I lost all my saved files in a computer move so I had to start over again. What’s fun is when you make something crash and see the smoke everywhere. Torturing the people is fun too.

Yay, pink & grey is an all-time colour combination favourite of mine. (..) So yeah, it’s all good, I’m using that one. And finally I get to see what RollerCoaster Tycoon is about – I keep hearing about it and I’ve never seen it before. Should pay Wikipedia a visit I think…

I love RCT1, but it’s no longer on my computer. I think I should go look for the CD somewhere. I used to name people and follow them around. XD Ah so much fun. I prefer these isometric pixel-art art games over fully 3-dimensional ones. I dunno why, it just looks better to me.

I think I have RCT1 laying around somewhere, I used to play it but had forgotten all about it until this entry. If I find the time I might just dig it up again :)

RCT pretty much pwns on other games, haha. Actually, RCT2 is better… Its the same as 1, just… better. 3 just sucks, plain and simple. But anyways, I’d love stuff, haha. Maybe um… tips on building a roller coaster with a good excitement rating? I tend to spend all day building an amazing one that I would ride and then its got like, intensity 20 and excitement .01. It is very very sad.

@Mar: I completely agree with you. RCT1 = great. RCT2 = even better. RCT3 = utter pants. The 3D/etc just doesn’t do it for me. I agree with Louise said above you – the isometric pixel art style is much better. No point asking me how to create an exciting rollercoaster, I just keep adding/editing them until they work XD I might see if I can create a table of most-intense rollercoasters or something though, with pictures. We could always compete to see who’s is worse. :D

That game is ace! I used to play it all the time, however my brother bought the new one. I think the 2d version is a lot better than the updated 3d version! RCT1 > RCT 3

I have/had RCT2! It is one of the most awesome games. Ever. After Theme Park. (and then Theme Hospital) I loved the whole managing-to-create a place and then.. being able to pick out random people. xD

RCT was one of my favorite PC games when i was smaller. I loved how it was easy to install and it was fast. It also took only a little amount of space on your computer.
