The 2008 Bloggies
Every year I hear about The Bloggies, but it’s usually about 3 months after the awards have been given out. Who’d have thought someone so “up” on the blog scene could miss such an important event? (Who am I kidding, I know more about rocket science than I do about popular bloggers!) Thanks to Rhys I got the heads up just in time this year.
For the most part, I haven’t a clue who I’ll be voting for yet, but it’d be nice to see from fresh faces instead of the same ol’, same ol’ that win each year. Unfortunately, I’m probably the only person who thinks that and with the UK category removed my chances are all but diminished. Nonetheless, I’ll be watching with interest.
So, any ideas on who you’re voting for?

I wish I read enough blogs to be able to fill every single one of those boxes – without having to include the sites which can’t be voted for :P Time for some blog hoping me thinks.

Let me think. Umm, I don’t know enough blogs to fill in half of those boxes. So I couldn’t even begin to fill in the boxes. But I know who’s blog I think should win over all. Hmm…surely you don’t need a hint Jem?

You only have to fill in a minimum of 3, so you could vote for your favourite 3 without having to fill them all in. I won’t be filling them all in either! -

I had never heard of those… sounds like a nice idea! And they have a category for Latin American blogs, which surprises me. I wonder if I could nominate myself there, lol XD

I think Diamond Geezer said it best on my blog:- “So, Canada (population 33 million) gets its own category, and Australia/New Zealand (population 24 million) get their own category, whereas Britain/Ireland (population 64 million) loses out to Europe?” It’s very US-Centric. Obviously because they have no concept of Geography. Boo them! We need some sort of “British Bloggies”. Because we rule.

This seems interesting, but I’ve no idea who to vote for. I’ll need to go through the blogs a bit more before I decide. @Carly: That’s so not even funny. It would’ve been a while ago, but this has been going on so long, it’s ridiculous!

I have no idea… but I’ve been thinking of Violent Acres for the blog of the year. Then again, she did start in in October 2006… so dunno if it would be relevant.

Oh, those damn Bloggies again. I could not even figure out who to nominate last time. Now if there was an entire Bloggies related to BAD websites, then yes I’d know quite a few.

I nominated Jemjabella, Ava Rae, and a bunch of blogs like I Can Has Cheezburger and Lorelle on WordPress (can’t recant every single favorite blog from Google Reader in a reasonably-sized comment). Thanks for the reminder about The Bloggies. It seems a lot of people forget about these awards things until they’re over. They really should have kept the UK category. To lump “Europe” into one big pile is really diminishing the chances for everyone, not just the UK bloggers.

I nominated my friends blog which doesn’t make any sense, gets 1 visit a week (me) and hasn’t been updated since April, last year. I don’t really nominate myself in these kind of things, its the peoples choice, not mine. (What the fleck did I just say?)

I doubt anyone in the “personal” blogging scene will get an award. Most of the past years winners have all been “pro-bloggers”, the ones who blog for money and have a niche. If I could be bothered voting I would vote for davidairey and dailyblogtips

I voted for most people from the personal website scene. I’m pretty sure none of my nominations will make it (for the reasons Bobbi-Lee stated above) but I thought I’d include my favourites from there anyway. The layout is rather hideous though.
