rev.iew.me is Better than Obama

Seriously, everyone else has been mentioning the new president lately, I felt like I should at least slip his name in there for good measure. Aside from the pointless political reference, one might question what the bloody hell I'm on about? What's rev.iew.me? Aha! Secret project reveal time! (Except, it wasn't kept that secret...)

rev.iew.me is the new community web page reviewing website. If you're into reviewing, into communities, into website feedback and improving your pages, it's clearly the place for you. Designed by Jacky, who may I say has a fabulous new (recent) layout up at her personal site that totally pwns, so you know it looks good.

A site like rev.iew.me has been on the cards for a while. Many of you are likely familiar with YourSite.nu which, until it was sold, served the community reviewing purpose really well. As predicted a couple of years ago, the new owner was only interested in milking the advertising revenue, and the site has been long dead of any real activity. Although I couldn't afford to take over YS.nu, I can provide users with the ability to build a similar community back up again, and I hope that the quick code turn around is stable enough to support everyone's needs.

Given that it's gone from conception to creation in a matter of weeks (it'd have been days if I hadn't been ill) there's likely to be some bugs. There may be things you expect to see there that haven't been added. There may be times when you wonder what on earth possessed me to encourage certain people to start reviewing again. I am prepared. I am ready for your feedback. I am looking forward to continuing work on my new project :D

So what are you waiting for? Go join!

PS. Aware of IE6 layout issues, am fixing.

Update: I know it still sucks in IE, but since it launched I've basically been tweaking and adding features as per requests. I love you all for the huge support you've been giving the site already, and I've been reading some fantastic reviews. Thank you :)

I'll think about adding my blog to the community. The thing is that a lot of review sites review you base on your code and if it's validated and stuff and I get soo lazy when it comes to that stuff (very bad habit I know!). I guess this is a chance for me to get push myself off my lazy ass and fix all that stuff before submitting my site!

But anyway, I agree, the layout looks nice and clean plus I love the choice of colors. I always thought YS.nu looked a little too childish.

It's been a while since I had a site (well not that long - but a site I actually kept updated/designed myself) and whilst I probably won't be able to spend a bucket of time reviewing, I registered :)

Crap, I don't think my comment went through because I posted 3 links to link buttons I made for rev.iew.me. Ok so let me just say this, if you are interested in them just contact me if you get a chance and I can send them to you. I also posted tinypic URL's to them in the tagboard, but it might get pushed off before you get to it.

I also said that you made Obama cry because you're so mean. :') Hehe!

I am slightly amused/concerned that people will actually review my (now removed) unfinished site. fools.

but yes, good stuff, if you're into reviewing. Which I am not :P

@ Katy - If it was unfinished, why did you post it up in the first place?

Great job on the design, Jacky and the back-end, Jem. It looks like it was an instant success! My only concern (that's probably not the right word) is the descriptions for the website are hard to read in a white font color on top of the graphic background. Other then that, love it! =)

I love this, seriously. I really like reviewing sites (and I feel like I give good feedback) and this is a perfect avenue for doing so. Plus, I LOVE hearing feedback about my own site (haven't had an actual review in FOREVER) because it motivates me to fix and improve things. Huzzah!

I'm so out of the web scene these days. I love the site's look and feel, but I'm afraid there's just not enough time to participate, so I guess I can just lurk now and then...much like I'm mostly doing with other people's blogs and whatnot anyway. ;)

And, way to milk interest in the new US president with a throwaway line!
