.me TLD Domains Available
The floodgates opened at 4pm GMT for those looking to buy .me domains; GoDaddy in fact crawling to a halt shortly after rendering checkout a gruelling 20-25 minute process. Unfortunately it seems that all dictionary words (e.g. "code.me") were taken. I'm not sure if these have been reserved for auction or taken the second registration opened, but it stopped the likes of me getting my grubby hands on them.
No clues for guessing which domain I snapped up, though...
Update (18/July): I can't believe that some people are shouting 'conspiracy' because GoDaddy failed. So they had a massive system bugger-up... it doesn't make them con-artists. There was talk before registration opened that the dictionary words may have been scooped up for auction, it's no surprise that other combinations were also held. I had 4 failed orders on top of the 1 that was successful, and I'm not worried. GoDaddy will give me my money back.

It's only .me available? I was under the impression that anything was allowed now, which means the very order of the Internet is about to crash (!!!11!!1!). But if only .me, then mass confusion won't HAVE to take hold, I guess...
I should think about getting a domain of my own. I quite like the old rules for domain names though...

@Stephanie: it was agreed to allow anyone and everyone to create a TLD but that won't be for a while yet, as far as I'm aware. (And it'll be VERY expensive!)

I was able to snap up glomp.me without any problems. :-D The only problem now is what to do with it...

Hehehehe. Lemme' guess. jemjabella.me? Or maybe jem.me

You're right, Brenda, but I'm not saying which one

It's jem.me, right?

Of course

Aw, cute domain name! Love it. Good grab, Jem! I have no idea what I'd get...

It's a shame the minimum character amount is 3, otherwise you could have got ai.me then with an 'e' folder.. ai.me/e
;)

I hope it'll be VERY expensive to create a TLD. People feel too entitled to everything already... *eyeroll*

good grab, jem.me is very cool. Good for 'jem' and it looks like jemmie! lol
I read in the paper that they are thinking of either .sex or .xxx for porn sites. or neither at all and not having one.
I bet carly.me has gone :-(

Am I so out of it that I had no idea this was even happening? Obviously puts me at a bit of a disadvantage...:P

Hehe 'jem.me' is a good one
Cute! Too bad the tld isn't randomly '.ma'.

If it were me, I would go for fuck.me. Hehe.
But I'm weird like that and that was the first thing that came to mind when I read "No clues for guessing which domain I snapped up, though…".

Hmm...I stayed out of this craze. I didn't think I needed another domain name, lol. I have enough trouble with the one I have. Anyway the next one I will get is hevstitch.com for my shop at http://xstitch.tigerwhispers.com if the shop takes off. But for now I am happy with tigerwhispers.com
Besides hev.me just sounds weird.

I forgot to ask, what are you going to do with jem.me?
On Fri 18th Jul 2008 @ 05:12, Vera said:
... well have fun with it. Personally, I don't really see the appeal of having a lot of domain names, especially when I have no idea what to do with them. Plus I've got really attached to mine.

Ha. Jem.me is a very nice domain.
I'd get one, but everything I purchase on the internet is on my parents' wallets, and I need to beg for approval for everything.

I'm in an auction soon for aweso.me
I tried to buy weso.me so I could subdomain it a.weso.me but GoDaddy's failings meant someone else got there before me.
jem.me is pretty cool though!

Hurray for jem.me!

My plurk page has been filled with people registering .me domains, I think they're cute. I'd get one if I could come up with something clever and cute like some I have seen so far (bite.me, glomp.me etc). Even jem.me is cute, veronica.me or naco.me would sound weird.

i want blasphe.me

I think this is an example of why they should allow people to register a domain with any ending they want. It just causes a riot

I bought a .me for work, (they like to own as many domains as possible to stop competitors getting them) but carly.me had already gone. :-(

I think this was an amazing idea for GoDaddy. I can't wait until custom TLDs, and I'd be willing to get a great one quick.

I tried to get a couple, but they failed too. I just couldn't think of anything 'witty' enough that was still available, ha.
I like Jem.me, though, it works really well!

I was so excited to snatch up shiny.nu - I don't think I'll be buying another domain for a while lol. I don't get all these people who snatch up multiple domains for their personal use.
