Inspiration from Frustration

I've had a totally shit day where nothing seemed to go right, nobody seemed to be able to help and I've got to get a list of things to get done by the end of tomorrow that I'll probably not have time to do... and yet there's nothing like coming home, saying hello to the cat, watching The Simpsons with Karl and then relaxing in front of pages of code.

I can only thank the mail problems at work for the motivation to work on the q*bee this evening; I've already added a basic commenting feature on updates and I've made it possible to subscribe to the q*bee feed using the feedburner e-mail subscription service.

What inspires you to get off your ass and work on stuff that you've been putting off for weeks?

A huge pile of washing up in the kitchen usually gets me on my computer. Also if I buy digital arts or .net magazine. I love browsing all the sites they have in there and that usually makes me want to put something new on mine. I only every clean or tidy if I have too, parent/boyfriend/landlord visiting...

I take on some of the easy tasks at first. Finishing at least something - even if they are little things - gives me the motivation to finish even more.

To-do lists. I'll say it again and again: they're my best friend. Those and timetables. I honestly swear by them! :P

My motivation is heavily "inspired" by my emotions sometimes. I have moments throughout the month where I become so self-loathing, that I feel the need to work on something to get my mind off of things. Most cases I end up working on my website(s) cleaning up code, adding things, looking for mistakes... Sometimes I'll read that book that's been sitting untouched for awhile, and rarely, I'll clean my room. :P

It's 9 PM the day before an essay is due in English. :P Outside of school, I hardly put stuff off. If I think of something, I usually do it right away. The only things I've been putting off lately are all school related things that I can get done at another time.

When I have a task that I don't feel like doing,I would put it off until an even more unwanted task comes along. Then I would hold my nose and do it as an excuse to put off the even more unwanted task.Wait, does that even make sense?

I am sorry about your day, Jem. Tomorrow is bound to be better. Have a glass of wine, watch Hex play, and make Karl cuddle with you. That is what I would suggest for tonight.

What usually makes me move is getting really angry about having let things build up, then I'm like a machine! An unyielding, undying engine of productivity! I crush you, self-inflicted procrastination-fueled woe! RAWR! ;3

When there's loads of washing up that needs doing, it inspires me to do work for university. And when I've got uni deadlines approaching, it motivates me to clean the flat...

Answering your question: really nothing. I tend to procrastinate until I can't take the pressure anymore and I either quit or do the task in record time. It's hopeless

I've been so busy. I don't have time to do all the crafty things I want to. Busyness prevents me from doing more fun things. I get inspired by thinking about all the things I want to do. I only put things off due to not having time to do them. :P Luckily, I don't have any real major things I put off right now. Most things I do these days involves work. I have to get work done before having my fun. :P By the way, long live the Queen Bee.:)
