Day 1 of Week Off

Have this week off — my first since Christmas — and guess what I did?

Nothing.

Nothing at all.

I played a couple hours of RollerCoaster Tycoon 2, and read Equal Rites (Pratchett) again but otherwise did nothing to tackle my backlog of e-mail, the many items on my todo list or the piles of housework.

I’m going straight to hell.

We’re always so busy doing something that it’s nice to do nothing every once in a while :)

It’s always like that. When you have to do something (work, school, etc.) you want to do something, like the things you mentions, but when you’re off or have nothing to do, you don’t want to do anything.

Now that you brought up RCT2, did you ever beat Twilight Princess?

My sister asked me that the other day, and I couldn’t remember. I’m going to have to fire it up to see where I got to.

I think you’re entitled to at least one day where you just lounge about and relax rather than get things done :P

  5. Vasili says: June 29, 2009 at 7:12 pm # ·

Yeah, I started to play it again a while ago. If you get stuck somewhere, just let me know, I know that game like the back of my hand. XD

I love doing nothing on my vacations…otherwise, I’d rather not have one!

Sounds like the right thing to do to me!
    Hope you enjoyed it?
    :-)

Sounds like you’re getting your vacation started out right! Good for you for doing nothing for once, you do too much already. :)

  9. Hanna says: June 29, 2009 at 9:05 pm # ·

Well I think you are doing it right then. :) Take it easy and try to enjoy.

Nothing is more relaxing than doing nothing. :D Enjoy your week off.

Sounds like a great day. I wish I’d had a similar one!

Nah, you’re not going to hell. We all know you deserve some rest at times. ;)

  13. Jordan says: June 30, 2009 at 1:50 am # ·

Sounds like my past three weeks ;) No need to have to do anything on a week off. Sleep in, watch junk tv while eating ice cream, sleep more… :P

Avoiding "important" things is an art. :P

Uh, Jem? That’s what a vacation is for.

    :D

  16. Vera says: June 30, 2009 at 3:19 am # ·

That’s perfectly normal. I’m the exact same way. :D

By the way, why is the "Website URL" in this form indented so far, compared to the rest (using FF3)?

Now I need to go and find my copy of Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 and maybe follow that with some classic SimCity. *rummages through room for box of computer game CDs*

  18. Kitty says: June 30, 2009 at 6:21 am # ·

Haha! I thik it’s perfectly okay to do nothing on the first day of your week off. You need the time to relax from the stress of work and God knows what else you’re doing. Plus you’re pregnant. Even if you hate doing nothing, I think your body deserves some rest.
*a comment from a lazy bum*

Well, personally I think that time ‘off’ is just that….time taken for yourself. Stuff the housework, plenty of time for that, and stuff the backlog of emails, they can wait too.
I’m glad you had a lazy day Jem, sometimes it’s really nice just to do nothing at all. It’s also extrememy good for your blood pressure, which in turn is good for baby :o)
Enjoy the time Jem, soon you will be busy busy again. x

Send me a screenshot Vera? I can’t see it :|

Oh how I can relate to this. I have had quite a few days off work this week yet I have tackled only 1 of the 7 things on my to-do list. I keep telling myself, Ok today I will be productive! I’ve been saying that for a week. :P But seriously.. today I will do something.

Plus, it’s always nice not doing anything sometimes. Everyone could use a break!

  22. A says: June 30, 2009 at 1:51 pm # ·

There is nothing wrong with doing nothing, while on vacation :P. I’ve the day off tomorrow myself, and I intend on lying about in bed, playing The Sims 3. It’s a good existence, I tell you :D.

    FIRST COMMENT AGAIN!! :D

Sounds like my day everyday :D

Love it. Doing nothing is great fun :)

  25. Vera says: July 1, 2009 at 9:39 am # ·

Oh, that’s odd. It’s not indented now (but am on work computer). Will send screenshot when I get home. Though AFAIK I have the latest FF installed both places.

    Yes, yes you are. :|

    W00t for doing nothing! :D

Also, your BellaBlocks page logs everything as spam and won’t let me post. It’s so empty and sad looking! D:

I actually bought Rollercoaster Tycoon for my son as a birthday present. He has the railroad one too, he can’t get enough of it. And it’s good to do nothing once and while, we all need a break sometimes :) Like me, now :)

  29. Hev says: July 2, 2009 at 7:57 pm # ·

Wasn’t it nice, Jem? Hmm? Of course it was. You need more of days like that. Trust me, you won’t have them once the baby is here.

  30. Eka says: July 4, 2009 at 8:56 pm # ·

Oh, you say you did nothing like it’s a bad thing. :P

I used to play RCT2 all the time. It’s so addicting! I’d put so much effort into designing a roller coaster and everyone would be petrified of it, but there would always be that one brave soul…

  31. Kristin says: July 6, 2009 at 9:35 pm # ·

Days off are the best! Don’t feel guilty haha, for the past two days I’m been sitting on my ass on the couch with my laptop and the TV in the background. Mmm mmm good!

  32. Stepherz says: July 7, 2009 at 2:10 am # ·

Your forgetting that doing nothing takes the most effort of all.

  33. Lil says: July 7, 2009 at 10:38 pm # ·

If you’re going to hell for ignoring a few unread e-mails and non-essential housework, I can’t begin to imagine what’s in store for me.

  34. Joann says: July 8, 2009 at 6:14 pm # ·

I love bumming around on lazy days. That’s what I do all summer (since I’m still in school). It’s a good thing, not a bad.

  35. Nick says: July 9, 2009 at 11:53 pm # ·

Sounds just like my daily routine most of the time right now, it’s great, but kinda say too :(

Rollar Coaster Tycoon 2 is the best. I can still play that one forever. I found version 3 pretty annoying even though the ability to ride your rides was okay. I like how on RCT2 people will line up over and over again to get on your coasters. Makes making money a lot easier.

The only problem is that it is a time-eating game of the highest order. You start a park and the next thing you know it is 6 hours later…and you keep going…
