Unrequested Reviews
This isn’t a rant on unrequested reviews - oh no no! This is a rant on those too pussy to accept them. Most personal or writing websites seem to have reviews of movies or books, be they good or bad. Even I occasionally review books and games. So why is it that we site owners are allowed to review these books or movies, without permission of the ‘art’ producer and without fear of repercussion while an unrequested review of a website is seen as a heinous crime?
When you visit a website you decide almost immediately if you like it. If you don’t, you exit the site, and if you do - you continue browsing. In your head, maybe subconsciously, you’ll be forming opinions on the writing style, layout or even the owner — so what is wrong with writing these down? What is wrong with doing the same thing that games magazines do with new games, or book review blogs do with new books? Why are websites any different?
I’m going to visit websites, form opinions and I’m going to write these down if I want to. I’m going to publish these writings via my review site which I created and upkeep until it is illegal to do otherwise. I am going to continue unrequested reviews of websites until everyone else stops unrequested reviews of plays, movies, books, games, food, drink and any other creative medium you can think of. Bollocks to anyone who says otherwise!
