Q. If you were given the choice to be very good at one of the following, which would you choose and why? Coder, designer, illustrator.
A. I'm insulted that you don't recognise my l33t coding qualities displayed here on jemjabella.co.uk :(

Q. Should you always "clean" any information collected from _SESSION?
A. Strictly speaking, parts of SESSION are manipulable (I hope I spelt that right). Instead of trying to figure out which ones are and which aren't, it is often easier to clean SESSION variables.

Q. Do you plan to release "blogmonster" to public anytime soon?
A. No. A) That opens the source code up to dickheads trying to find a vulnerability (of which I'm sure there are none but better safe than sorry) and B) I don't want to have to deal with support requests for it.

Q. jem, how do you reply if someone says to you, "do i look like i effin care about what you think?"
A. It depends, if it's a face to face conversation, then: "It's hard to tell - your face is so fucked up." :D

A. Oh dear, it appears the page is missing. Oh well, you can download it directly, here: http://www.jemjabella.co.uk/downloads/Alphabetti.zip & I'll try and figure out where the page went to.

Q. If your child was a girl, would you name it after your mid-wife (I was named after my mid-wife)?
A. No - my midwife has a very old fashioned name that I'm not particularly keen on. It's a sweet idea though.

Q. Are you still using Wordpress? If not, why?
A. No, I am not. I haven't used it since December when WordPress 2.7 imploded on me. Rewriting my custom blog was easier than sorting throat WP bloat.

Q. I always assumed that "Jabella" was a middle name of some sort...but looking at the proposal question it seems it's not. Is there some special meaning to it? Just a nickname?
A. No, jemjabella (all one word) is just a random nickname. No meaning (beyond the obvious fact that I've been using it for 10 years).

Q. If you could pick one country to live in, where would it be?
A. Erm.. I think I'm quite happy where I am. All my friends and most of my family are in the UK. :) Shame my Dad's not, but that's another topic altogether.

Q. What I meant was, what do you think of the software availible for linux and it's operation?
A. Aside from the annoying fact that Photoshop and Notepad++ aren't available for Linux (and running them in WINE is tedious), I have more or less the same opinion as I do of Windows and its software: it does the job.

Q. What are you going to name your sprog? :3
A. Well, that very much depends on whether or not it's a boy or a girl. I have absolutely NO idea if it's a girl. If it's a boy, it may end up being 'William'.

Q. Would you recommend anyone to live in UK?
A. Sure, if they don't mind being taxed on everything, boring grey weather all year round and a failing health service.

Q. What do you think of Linux?
A. You'll have to be more specific. Are you talking about the idea of Linux, or a specific distribution?

Q. Do you plan on writing any new scripts in the near future? The Bella~ scripts are very helpful.
A. Apart from BellaBlocks, which is obviously in the works, and BellaBuffs Collective which has been due for about 3 years, no. I am trying to keep my workload steady at the moment to give myself chance to finish some projects. Maybe in a year or so when the sprog is born.

Q. oh cool. what about the other sites involved in the review?
A. Off the top of my head, I remember them all having dodgy tutorials - either straight out errors, or inaccurate explanations. This is fairly typical of a generation who want to pull in visitors but can't be arsed to put in the effort to actually learn about the things they're trying to teach. The girl who mixed up ladder and latter has a really nice layout. They're fairly ordinary sites, all in.

Q. seeing as you covered the unrequested review of swimchick, I thougt I'd ask what you thought of the the site it was posted on?
A. Apart from her retarded (IMO) paragraph on returning blog comments and a couple of minor nitpicky errors with her tutorials, I find the site itself very unobjectionable. I have certainly seen a lot worse.

Q. On the Articles & Opinions page, how did you display your subpages grouped nicely under a heading? (I'm trying to do this with a PHP code but the heading ends up being a link in li tags.)
A. I code the page links in manually.

Q. Another question from meh. I'm using the Dynamic Highlight Menu code for my website. It works perfectly -- only that when its on the subpage of a certain page, its not working. What code do you use?
A. Back when I was using WordPress, I did it in a bit of a cheaty way. I had my list of links to my main pages, and then just checked the ID to see if I was on that page, or if the ID matched the parent of that page. Here's my code:

<ul id="pagenav">
	<li<?php if (is_home()) echo ' class="current_page_item"'; ?>><a href="/" title="jemjabella - blog">Home</a></li>
	<li<?php if ($post->ID == 622 || $post->post_parent == 622) echo ' class="current_page_item"'; ?>><a href="<?php echo get_permalink(622); ?>" title="About Jem and Jemjabella">About the PHP Ninja</a></li>
	<li<?php if ($post->ID == 624 || $post->post_parent == 624) echo ' class="current_page_item"'; ?>><a href="<?php echo get_permalink(624); ?>" title="Jem's Internet-related articles">Articles &amp; Opinions</a></li>
	<li<?php if ($post->ID == 625 || $post->post_parent == 625) echo ' class="current_page_item"'; ?>><a href="<?php echo get_permalink(625); ?>" title="Jem's Free PHP scripts">Free PHP Scripts</a></li>
	<li<?php if ($post->ID == 626 || $post->post_parent == 626) echo ' class="current_page_item"'; ?>><a href="<?php echo get_permalink(626); ?>" title="Projects, hobbies and miscellaneous stuff">Hobbies</a></li>
</ul>
