The New CSSbake

Some time in 2008 I approached Ben with a view to taking CSSbake off his hands. It hadn’t been updated in a while and it seemed such a shame to let a good domain name go to waste. Thankfully — because now my time is dedicated to rev.iew.me instead — he turned me down, and insisted we work together to improve the site instead.

So we did. I came on board, found myself labelled a raspberry cheesecake, and started helping Ben and Rachael build up not only the ingredients listed, but implement a new section (the “Cookbook”) and a new layout. With Ben’s creative design genius the site has been transformed, and so I welcome you all to take a look at the new CSSbake!

Warning

This post is over 6 months old. This means that, despite my best intentions, it may no longer be accurate. Age, motherhood, experience, loss... these things have all changed me from when this blog was started back in the heady (ha) days of my youth.

As much as I would like to go back and edit 10 years of archives to provide an insight into the 'me' of now — to update coding snippets and revise website advice — it would probably take years to do so (by which point I'd have to start again!) This would defeat the point of keeping these archives anyway.

Please take these posts for what they are: a brief look into my past, my history, my journey.

I remember being so disappointed when seeing hat it wasn’t really going anywhere. It was such an awesome idea and really a shame..! So yeah, way to go on getting it back on its feet.. It looks amazing!

I’m so happy to see that CSSBake is back up! I kind of guessed that this was the project you, Ben and Rachael have been working on. ;)

I’m glad that it was brought back up, but I think I’m just *slightly* disappointed with the new design. I think it’s because it’s a bit too dark/drab for me when wanting to look through resources/images. I’m sure I can get used to it, but I think the main problem is that I’m biased, since I’ve been relying on patterntap.

But hopefully I can see some fantastic items from outside of the owners’ blogosphere. Something new :)

I didn’t expect people to rave about my site, I expected people to give me constructive criticism other than telling me about copyright laws. I’ve changed a lot of things to my site because of the reviews I got. I don’t know if you actually read the blog or just skimmed through it but I said I expected the worst & I was frustrated by the contradicting reviews that seemed to be revolved around the color scheme.

@ Tiff: What does that have to do with anything? O.o I am guessing this is a rebuttal comment? LOL

Anyway Jem, that’s fantastic. I long to be that awesome someday, it’s a great source for inspiration!

Wow, I had forgotten all about that site. I stoped checking it when it seemed to die. Glad it’s had a revival, and hopefully it’ll take off this time around.

Wow, I love the ‘Cookbook’ idea!

I’d like it if the main content-y bit had a different colour from the background. Unless it’s my computer that’s topping it from showing it up D:

That site looks awesome. I’ll have to remember it next time I need inspiration for a layout — it’s a great idea!

I’m glad it’s been picked up because the concept is really cool. Hopefully it will pick up and take off much like rev.iew.me did.

Love that CSSBake is moving along, but Jem don’t you have enough to do?
