My Blog Resolutions
Now that you’ve read every man and his dog’s post on new years resolutions, including my ramble on my efficiency drive for 2009 (already going well, I might add) I thought it appropriate to talk about the resolutions my blog/website will be making. Yes, a website can have resolutions, I’m not crazy. :P
Firstly, 2008 saw me reach 500 RSS subscribers. I’d like to double that by the end of 2009, either by educating those who don’t use RSS or gaining (and keeping!) new readers. I’m not sure how, I don’t have a game plan. (Who am I kidding, I never plan!)
Second, I want to add at least 3 new pieces to the Beginner’s Guide to PHP and get a few Q&A sessions done so that you can ask me about PHP things that make you scratch your head.
Third, I plan on making more of an effort to expand on my Gaming section, as it’s all but abandoned. Gaming is a third of my life, almost, and I don’t talk about it enough.
Last but not least, I need to get the general bloggy stuff up and running… I’m talking archives, search, tags, my admin panel. The stuff that should work but doesn’t. Once that’s sorted I can concentrate on minor things like my sidebar, re-adding the “Ask a Question..” form, etc.
All sounds fairly easy…
Warning
This post is over 6 months old. This means that, despite my best intentions, it may no longer be accurate. Age, motherhood, experience, loss... these things have all changed me from when this blog was started back in the heady (ha) days of my youth.
As much as I would like to go back and edit 10 years of archives to provide an insight into the 'me' of now — to update coding snippets and revise website advice — it would probably take years to do so (by which point I'd have to start again!) This would defeat the point of keeping these archives anyway.
Please take these posts for what they are: a brief look into my past, my history, my journey.

Hmmmm, maybe I should have made some resolutions…..Nah!

Oh, 500 subscribers, wow. I have around 25 and I’m pretty happy with that. :P
I would love to see more PHP posts. I find them so easy to understand, and I’m definitely a total beginner. Good luck with your goals!

Wow, 500 is a lot! I’m sure you can reach 1,000 subscribers by the end of the year, considering your plans for this website (particularly the PHP guide and Q&A) will draw in lots of new visitors.
Good luck with your resolutions! I have none. Except maybe blog more often, but keep it interesting.

Definitely looking forward to all these things, especially the gaming section! I’m such a dork. :)

Wow, I’m super jealous of you 1337 skillz. I have little doubt that you’ll be able to meet these goals. Good luck!

Could we keep the Furry Fridays? Please! I want more Hex, Fudge, & Piggies.
Also more PHP guides. I think I may be getting it, not sure, but maybe, lol.
Congrats on the RSS feeds.

Jem, what kind of games do you play?

One thing’s for sure: you’re not lacking in ambition, at least in terms of your websites! ;)

500, nice…
You should put a nice link to new visitors on your site that encourages them to subscribe to your RSS, that will make you reach your goal. -
So… smileys?

Yay! New things to look forward to: I’d personally would like to see a tutorial on writing into a file text, xml.
How can you all plan so much? Not that I don’t, but… planning somehow tends to jinx mine :PYay, the Q&A is back! XD well the A part at any rate.

Easy to quantify sure… but perfectionists (which you seem to be) know how to complicate such things. (: I’m sure you can do it though.
-
Easy then, that little lot shouldn’t take but a few minutes to sort out lol. I’d like to see the Furry Fridays stay too. :)
-
Mahahaha… you’ll never catch ME subscribing to your feed!

I would like your Q&A section too! You have some great goals there!
