I Got a Flickr

As much as I promised myself I never would — because I have web space, why not use it? — I got a flickr the other day to view some friends-only photos, and then actually uploaded some pictures today. I suck, I know. It was just too much hassle to finish off the gallery script I started writing about 12 months ago (yeah, exactly).

Rather predictably, it’s got pictures of the cats in it so far…

Warning

This post is over 6 months old. This means that, despite my best intentions, it may no longer be accurate. Age, motherhood, experience, loss... these things have all changed me from when this blog was started back in the heady (ha) days of my youth.

As much as I would like to go back and edit 10 years of archives to provide an insight into the 'me' of now — to update coding snippets and revise website advice — it would probably take years to do so (by which point I'd have to start again!) This would defeat the point of keeping these archives anyway.

Please take these posts for what they are: a brief look into my past, my history, my journey.

…You didn’t have one all this time?!

    *runs to check it out*

^ I have been a "hater" of the various web 2.0 gadgets and services for years. Given that I caved in and got a twitter, facebook and a youtube account, it seemed only right to get a Flickr too :P

I actually finished my gallery script but promptly switched to Flickr ;)

Welcome to the dark side, I guess. :P

As always, your cats are very cute. Also, those are some good pictures. You’ve got a nice eye for pictures.

I really like Flickr. It helps that I don’t have enough webspace to host my own images, but Flickr is just so easy to use, and there are so many awesome photos. *runs off to add Jem*

I loooooooove the photo of Fudge on the cat pole. I don’t have a Flickr myself, but then again that’s more because I have no way to upload photos apart from scanning them in. ;)

Those are some pretty nice pictures, actually. I really like some of the angles and poses. I’m obsessed with taking photos of my cat. :P

I created a Flickr a few days ago, but I don’t really "do" photography, so I have a feeling it will be wasted :P

Hehe Bubs and Jem I’m a compromise. My gallery script uses the Flickr API. ;D I do like Flickr more than I like keeping my photos on my own web space – it’s easier to organise, plus I like the semi-social side of things.

The only reason I have a Flickr account is because I have a Yahoo account. Maybe I’ll friend-whatever you so I can see the cats. :P

I believe this would be convincing support for the age-old argument: ‘Don’t knock it ’til you’ve tried it!’
