Yes, today I became another year older (all in 24 hours, isn’t that amazing?) I am now old enough to.. well, actually, pretty much the same shizzle as before.
Having pre-booked the day off work before Christmas, I celebrated the day in typical Jem fashion — by doing absolutely bugger all. I saw my niece and nephew, poked fun at my lazy unemployed brother and ate “jizm cake”. So called because of the white chocolate drizzled all over the top. If you don’t know what jizm is, don’t look it up because you really don’t want to know.
While I’m not one to do the whole “show and tell” when it comes to gifts, I don’t mind sharing that Karl has bought me a Crumpler bag, as recommended by many which is due to arrive mid-week, and my dear Mummy bought me a much-needed 3rd wiimote (wii party at mine on the 12th and none of you are invited! Hah.) My other brother — not the lazy one — bought me a box of Thorntons Dark. Oh how I love thee (the chocolates, not my brother.. silly!) and I got a collection of cards from various sources.
On top of all that I woke this morning to a mountain of birthday emails and comments, not all of which I’ve had chance to respond to yet, that I didn’t even expect (because I don’t tend to publicise my birthday). They’re all hitting me up with some love on Snark too. Isn’t that just the sweetest, most vomit-worthy shit you ever heard? ;)
Hip-hip-hooray! Hip-hip-hooray! Hip-hip-hooray! Here’s to another year of my boring and yet strangely addictive (it’s got to be, right?) blog entries.

This post is over 6 months old. This means that, despite my best intentions, it may no longer be accurate. Age, motherhood, experience, loss... these things have all changed me from when this blog was started back in the heady (ha) days of my youth.
As much as I would like to go back and edit 10 years of archives to provide an insight into the 'me' of now — to update coding snippets and revise website advice — it would probably take years to do so (by which point I'd have to start again!) This would defeat the point of keeping these archives anyway.
