More Dentistry Work

I’ve been in so much pain I had to have an emergency dentist appointment earlier. Apparently, a deep filling in one of my teeth has caught/damaged the nerve-y stuff and I’ve got to have a root canal treatment done on July 24th. Just the thought of the words “root canal” makes me shudder, but apparently it’s not as painful as it sounds or as people make out.

Now just to survive a week or so on huge pink ibruprofen… how amusing, they match my site layout!

Warning

This post is over 6 months old. This means that, despite my best intentions, it may no longer be accurate. Age, motherhood, experience, loss... these things have all changed me from when this blog was started back in the heady (ha) days of my youth.

As much as I would like to go back and edit 10 years of archives to provide an insight into the 'me' of now — to update coding snippets and revise website advice — it would probably take years to do so (by which point I'd have to start again!) This would defeat the point of keeping these archives anyway.

Please take these posts for what they are: a brief look into my past, my history, my journey.

Good luck with the treatment Jem! It sounds horrible.

Ugh! Hope everything turns out all right! At least you don’t have to drink Pepto Bismol by the gallon…that stuff is nasty and a bright pink.

Augh, that sounds scary. Scary and painful. I hope all goes well.

I had one before. Actually, it was two at the same tiime. It wasn’t that bad, as far as I remember. Just have to eat a lot of squishy foods.

I have to have my wisdom teeth cut out on Wednesday, so I kind of know how you might be feeling. Everyone tells me getting those removed isn’t as bad as it seems, either. Anyway, best of luck! I hope it goes well. =)

The words that would make me shudder would be “you can pay on the way out” Hope they get it sorted for you soon.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed… and would write more but apparently I can’t figure out which of my words is the blacklisted one *grumbles*

I don’t mean to scare you anymore, at all. But it is as bad as people make out (well not horrific but pretty bad), my mum had it done and she was in a lot of pain. But our guy wasn’t very nice, so I’m sure yours will be fine!

Another comment: are any words that are relevant to dentist, pain or injections blacklisted? Until I removed all them words I couldn’t make my post.

@Amber: a lot of people are having problems with blacklisted words but none of the ones in my table are relevant to dentists.. that I can find. Very odd. :/

Yes, I couldn’t say r**t c*nal. I was wondering if you took your hatred of dentistry a bit too far or something ;)

Ouch. :( Feel better soon, love. V xx

I had my wisdom teeth removed awhile back and it wasn’t horrible at all. I had thought and heard that it would be, but it was over before I knew it.

Good luck with the dentist treatment! I had a root canal 2-3 years ago, but that was cause I had chipped my tooth as a little kid and the nerve had died, so I didn’t feel anything. Hopefully you won’t either :)

Ah, I don’t like the dentist at all… I have this horrible fear of having anything happen to my mouth. I remember when I had braces in high school that each time we went in to get them adjusted on school days and such, just having their hands in my mouth and messing around caused me to become so irritable and emotional that I wouldn’t even go to school that day. Thank goodness both of those things are done with. Now I just try to avoid the dentist as much as possible because I just… HATE the feeling of people messing in my mouth. Ahgughg! Hopefully you handle it better than I do, haha. I’m a wreck in the dentist office and it’s so irrational.

I have to get my wisdom teeth pulled, I’m sooo not looking forward to that. :(

Have fun! Dentist treatments are scary. But with the anastesia and laughing gas, you really don’t feel much at all.

Oh, poor you :(. Hope it’s not too bad. I loathe going to the dentist and am terrible at putting it off; at least you’re brave enough to get it fixed!

A… I hate dentists… As long as I could keep the pain inside me I would, haha… Good thing you’re brave enough to actually go through with it, me, if I would be given more extensions I know I’d chicken out in the end hehe

The word “r**t c*n*l” would make me faint! I promise! I’ll keep my fingers crossed that it wont be that painful for you. I have my yearly dentist appointment now in August I think. I will most definitely take my big old teddy bear with me, because my age is at the most 12 when I go to the dentist…

I had to have the same thing done on Tuesday and it went okay, actually. It hurt a bit as the anaesthetic wore off but I was eating ice cream the same night so it couldn’t have been that bad! I hope it goes all right for you :)
