Luckiest Girlfriend

I felt somewhat like the luckiest girlfriend in the world last night. Karl started his Summer Holidays on Monday, but because I was sick and didn’t go to work on Monday, yesterday was his first day alone. I left him two things to do: pick up a shelf-thingy from Homebase that they had on sale and peg the washing I’d started on the washing line.

I got back last night to not only discover that he’d bought a set of shelves and pegged the washing out (he did a good job too — I have high standards and I don’t like peg marks on clothes) but he also tidied and hoovered the bedroom, washed the bed linen and pegged them out to dry too. He had the kettle hot ready for a cup of tea for when I walked through the door and he’d started repainting the lean-to shelter on the back of the house.

I can just see him as a househusband.

Warning

This post is over 6 months old. This means that, despite my best intentions, it may no longer be accurate. Age, motherhood, experience, loss... these things have all changed me from when this blog was started back in the heady (ha) days of my youth.

As much as I would like to go back and edit 10 years of archives to provide an insight into the 'me' of now — to update coding snippets and revise website advice — it would probably take years to do so (by which point I'd have to start again!) This would defeat the point of keeping these archives anyway.

Please take these posts for what they are: a brief look into my past, my history, my journey.

*blush* t’was nothing! Got to do something to keep me from noticing my cold, haven’t I? ;) I’m at work right now, but I’ll probably head off at lunch. The Semprons are going fine..:) Then, more washing! Haha! I’d repaint the kitchen, but…I’d rather just move..;)

Ah, well the shelf set thing we bought from Homebase is free-standing so relatively harmless. Hopefully. ;)

Ok, fess up: where do you get boyfriends like yours?

  12. Jem says: August 10, 2005 at 3:55 pm # ·

At the local boyfriend shop, of course. ;) I saved up and went for a top-end model. I didn’t get a free air freshener, unfortunately…

Awwww. I am so jealous. And much too poor to be able to afford a top-end model at our local boyfriend shop. =p

You’re super-lucky to have Karl around. It’s great to find a male who is one step ahead of everything. Luckily, my model is a pretty good one, though prone to need lots of attention… not that it’s a bad thing, ;)

Lol! Aww thats so sweet. I wish I knew a boy who was half as caring as that o-o Haha, yeah, my Dad’s a househusband lol. He does all the house stuff because my Mom’s at work all the time.

I am impressed! Very seldom do I come across guys who are actually willing to do the housework out of their own free will. (Apart from the guys I know who are the oldest child in the family, and have been doing their younger siblings’ laundry since young.) Most guys prefer to go out to work, though. :(
